One of Donald Trump’s biggest accomplishments as President was appointing three new Supreme Court Justices.
Recently, individual states and business groups sued the Biden administration over his federal vaccine mandate for companies with more than 100 employees.
On a six to three vote, the Supreme Court struck down Biden’s mandate, with Donald Trump’s nominees – Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh – casting the deciding votes.
The six Justices ripped the Biden administration in their opinion for trying to impose an unprecedented power grab over the bodily autonomy of the American people.
“Administrative agencies are creatures of statute. They accordingly possess only the authority that Congress has provided. The Secretary has ordered 84 million Americans to either obtain a COVID–19 vaccine or undergo weekly medical testing at their own expense. This is no everyday exercise of federal power,” the Justices ruled.
According to the Justices, the Biden administration usurped Congress’ authority when it imposed the federal vaccine mandate.
The six Justices pointed out in their opinion that only Congress has the authority to give administrative agencies the power to impose vaccine mandates.
“We are told by the States and the employers that OSHA’s mandate will force them to incur billions of dollars in unrecoverable compliance costs and will cause hundreds of thousands of employees to leave their jobs,” the opinion read, adding that “for its part, the Federal Government says that the mandate will save over 6,500 lives and prevent hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations. It is not our role to weigh such tradeoffs.”
Of course, this ruling was a welcome relief for 84 million Americans.
Many Americans who did not want to take the vaccine for whatever reasons feared losing their job because of the administration’s tyrannical mandate.
But fortunately, medical freedom and bodily autonomy won out at the Supreme Court.
