The New York Times just handed Trump supporters all the ammunition they need.
The paper's own data exposed what conservatives have been saying for a year.
And the New York Times accidentally exposed one pattern about federal judges that has Trump supporters fuming.
Biden-Appointed Judges Block Trump Executive Orders at 10x Rate
The New York Times published a chart tracking federal court rulings on Trump administration executive orders.
The chart was supposed to show legitimate judicial oversight of presidential power.
Instead, it revealed exactly what Trump supporters have been screaming about since January 2025 — Obama-appointed judges are blocking Trump's agenda at a rate that makes judicial activism look like an understatement.
The numbers tell the story the Times didn't want to tell.
Obama-appointed district court judges have blocked Trump executive orders at roughly ten times the rate of judges appointed by other presidents.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis jumped on the revelation immediately.
"Great (unintentional, I'm sure) job by the NYT to expose the politicization of 'resistance' district court judges," DeSantis wrote on X.
Conservative legal analyst Margot Cleveland pointed out what everyone could see in the data.
"Thanks for pointing out (I'm sure it wasn't your intent) that the lower courts are packed with leftist ideologues," commentator Buzz Patterson added.
The chart showed exactly what it looks like when judges appointed by one president systematically target the agenda of another.
Obama Judges Block 358 Trump Lawsuits: The Separation of Powers Battle
This isn't the first time judges appointed by Democrat presidents have waged war on Republican administrations.
Obama faced Republican obstruction during his presidency when GOP senators blocked over 100 judicial nominations using procedural tactics.
But Trump's facing something different.
These aren't confirmation battles in the Senate.
These are sitting judges who already have lifetime appointments actively working to dismantle a President's agenda from the bench.
Since Trump returned to office in January 2025, federal courts have issued over 358 lawsuits challenging his executive actions.
Multiple Obama-appointed judges have blocked major Trump initiatives including the birthright citizenship executive order, National Guard deployments to cities, federal funding freezes, and DEI program eliminations.
Judge John H. Chun blocked Trump's election integrity order.
Judge Amir Ali temporarily paused Trump's foreign aid freeze.
Judge James Boasberg halted deportation flights.
The list goes on.
Trump himself couldn't believe judges were blocking government efficiency efforts.
"We want to weed out corruption," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "And it seems hard to believe that a judge could say, we don't want you to do that."
From Merrick Garland to Judicial Resistance: District Court Judges Block Trump Agenda
Remember what happened when Justice Antonin Scalia died in February 2016?
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to even hold hearings on Obama's nominee Merrick Garland.
Democrats screamed about stolen seats and constitutional violations.
Now those same Obama judges who made it through confirmation are returning the favor by blocking Trump at every turn.
The Supreme Court has sided with Trump in 20 out of 24 emergency cases that reached them in 2025.
That tells you everything about what's happening at the lower court level.
District court judges know their rulings will get overturned.
They're blocking Trump anyway just to slow him down and create headlines for Democrats.
Judge after judge appointed by Obama has ruled against Trump on everything from passport gender markers to federal employee firings to immigration enforcement.
It's lawfare, plain and simple.
The New York Times thought they were documenting legitimate judicial review.
Instead, they created a roadmap showing exactly which judges are part of the resistance.
Conservative commentator Jeremy Carl nailed it.
"This chart literally just shows how Democrats have made a mockery of our judicial system through forum shopping at the District Court level," Carl wrote.
Trump won a mandate in November 2024.
He's trying to execute that mandate.
And Obama judges are using lifetime appointments to override the will of voters.
That's not how the Constitution is supposed to work.
The Supreme Court keeps slapping down these district court judges.
But the damage is done every time a Trump policy gets frozen for weeks or months while appeals work through the system.
The New York Times accidentally proved what Trump supporters have known all along.
The judicial resistance is real, it's organized, and it's coming almost exclusively from judges appointed by Barack Obama.
