One of the biggest challenges facing the Biden administration is the situation at the southern border.
The crisis is worsening by the day.
And the Radical Left will be outraged when they find out Joe Biden just made this one concession to Donald Trump on the border crisis.
Donald Trump lowered the refugee cap to 15,000 per year to help stop the flood of illegal immigrants across our southern border.
However, during the 2020 campaign, Joe Biden promised to raise Donald Trump’s cap from 15,000 to 62,500 in 2021 and 1,250,000 in 2022.
But with the situation at the border growing worse by the day, apparently Joe Biden changed his mind and will leave Trump’s refugee cap in place.
The Washington Post reports:
President Biden has decided not to lift the cap on refugees for the current fiscal year from the level set by the Trump administration, according to a senior administration official, a shift from a previous proposal to Congress to allow more refugees to come to the United States.
Biden plans to keep the refugee cap at 15,000, according to the official. He had previously proposed to Congress lifting the cap to 62,500 and pushing it to 125,000 for the following year.
Of course, the Radical Left will be outraged when they find out Joe Biden is keeping Trump’s 15,000 per year cap on refugees.
In fact, Democrat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, along with several other socialist members of Congress, wrote a letter to Biden demanding he open the borders and allow more refugees into the U.S. only a few hours before he announced his plans to keep Trump’s refugee cap in place.
“We have all been deeply distressed at the stories of hundreds of refugees who had been cleared for resettlement having their flights cancelled at the last minute, in some cases having already left their residences and sold their belongings. We must keep our promises to people who have fled unthinkably brutal conditions in their home countries and live up to our ambition to provide them a safe haven to re-start their lives,” the letter read.
But this is not the first time Joe Biden has backtracked on his border policy after facing the reality of the situation.
After Joe Biden halted construction on Trump’s border wall as one of his first acts as President, Biden recently instructed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to explore using money appropriated for border wall construction to “fill in gaps” in the current wall, which allows illegal aliens to sneak through.
Joe Biden keeping Trump’s refugee caps in place will be the first time he’s had to deal with the Radical Left being at odds with his decision.
