Donald Trumps has narrowly survived two attempted assassination attempts in just the last few months.
The failures of the Secret Service to protect the President are on full display.
And the Secret Service is sweating bullets after this damning report.
Massive pattern of incompetence
Recent attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life have shocked the nation and put the spotlight on the Secret Service.
It’s clear that the Secret Service isn’t doing what is needed to ensure Trump’s safety.
Senator Josh Hawley, a top Trump ally, has released a report based on evidence from Secret Service whistleblowers that shows what he calls a “compounding pattern of negligence, sloppiness, and gross incompetence that goes back years.”
Even some Democrats see that the problems with the Secret Service need to be addressed.
Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal said the American public will be “shocked and appalled when lawmakers release their report on the assassination attempts.”
A bipartisan task force headed by Representatives Mike Kelly, R-(PA) and Jason Crow (D-CO)has called on Secret Service officials to come before Congress and answer for their failures.
“We have requested a briefing with the U.S. Secret Service about what happened and how security responded,” Kelly and Crow said. “We are thankful that the former President was not harmed, but remain deeply concerned about political violence and condemn it in all of its forms.”
Secret Service want more money
The Biden-Harris administration and the Democrats’ solution to the problem is to just throw more money at it.
“One thing I want to make clear is: The Service needs more help,” Biden said. “And I think Congress should respond to their need.”
But the typical big government solution of more spending isn’t going to address the issue.
The Secret Service has a major issue with incompetence, and needs to be held accountable.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) believes more funding for the agency isn’t the answer.
“President Trump needs the most coverage of anyone,” Johnson said during an appearance on Fox & Friends. “He’s the most attacked, he’s the most threatened, even probably more than when he was in the Oval Office. So we are demanding in the House that he have every asset available and we will make more available if necessary. I don’t think it’s a funding issue. I think it’s a manpower allocation.”
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana, who was shot by a deranged Bernie Sanders supporter during a baseball game, has called for the Secret Service to direct more resources towards protecting Trump, given the clear and ongoing threat on the former President’s life.
“Authorities just acknowledged if President Trump was President, they’d do more to protect him,” Scalise wrote on social media. “This must change. There have been TWO attempts on Trump’s life. Secret Service must up their level of protection of him to their FULL capabilities — including expanding the perimeter.”
It’s clear that the Secret Service needs to make protecting Trump a top priority.
Nobody has tried to assassinate Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, and Trump has already faced two attempts that nearly succeeded.
