The Supreme Court just betrayed Christians in the worst way imaginable

Kim Davis went to jail for her faith in 2015.

The Kentucky county clerk spent six days behind bars because she refused to violate her Christian beliefs.

And the Supreme Court just betrayed Christians in the worst way imaginable.

Here's what should make your blood boil.

Davis fought for 10 years to defend traditional marriage and religious liberty in America.

She refused to put her name on marriage licenses for same-sex couples after the Supreme Court invented a right to gay marriage out of thin air in 2015.

A federal judge ordered her to do so and had marshals throw her in jail when she wouldn't back down.

Kentucky law requires “A signed statement indicating that the marriage certificate was recorded in the county in which it was filed. The statement shall also include the title of the county clerk or deputy clerk of the county in which the certificate was filed and indicate the date the marriage certificate was recorded.”

The law does not however specifically require that a county clerk sign the statement of record.

Despite this, a  jury ordered this Christian woman to pay $360,000 to punish her for living out her faith.¹

Monday, the Supreme Court had a chance to right this wrong.

They could have heard Davis's appeal and reconsidered the Obergefell disaster that trampled religious liberty.

Instead, they rejected her case without even bothering to explain why.

Not one justice wrote a dissenting opinion defending this persecuted Christian woman.

Nobody stood up for religious freedom.

The Court just said no and abandoned her.²

So-called conservative justices cave to the Left

Now Davis faces financial ruin for refusing to celebrate sin.

Mat Staver, her attorney at Liberty Counsel, said she's being crushed by "crippling monetary damages based on nothing more than purported hurt feelings."³

Think about that for a second.

A Christian woman goes bankrupt because she wouldn't endorse gay marriage, and the Supreme Court won't lift a finger to help her.

Where were the "conservative" justices Trump appointed?

Nowhere to be found.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh stayed silent while Davis got thrown to the wolves.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who talks a good game about her Catholic faith, said nothing.

Even Justice Clarence Thomas, who called for reconsidering Obergefell just three years ago, refused to defend Davis this time.⁴

Justice Samuel Alito gave the game away last month when he announced he's not trying to overturn gay marriage.

He called Obergefell "a precedent of the court that is entitled to respect."⁵

Entitled to respect?

A fabricated constitutional right that persecutes Christians is entitled to respect?

Since when do conservatives show respect to judicial activism that destroys religious liberty?

The Supreme Court picks public opinion over the Constitution

Here's what's really going on.

These justices looked at polling showing 70% of Americans now support gay marriage and decided to take the path of least resistance.⁶

They're more worried about what The New York Times will say than defending the First Amendment.

Barrett told that liberal rag there are "very concrete reliance interests" at stake with same-sex marriage.⁷

Translation: too many people are living in sin now, so we can't upset the apple cart.

That's not constitutional interpretation.

That's cowardice.

The same Supreme Court that had the guts to overturn Roe v. Wade suddenly has cold feet when it comes to defending religious Americans.

They'll protect unborn babies but throw Christians under the bus.

The justices understand that half the country still opposes abortion.

But gay marriage? Even among Republicans, support has dropped to just 41%, showing the issue is losing steam.⁸

These justices care more about their cocktail party invitations than the Bill of Rights.

This is what persecution looks like in America

Kim Davis's case was the only clean shot at overturning Obergefell.

She had direct standing because she personally faces bankruptcy for refusing to comply with an unconstitutional ruling.

Future challenges will be nearly impossible because anyone who tries will face the same six-figure financial destruction Davis is suffering.

That's the point.

The Left wants to make an example out of her so no other Christian dares stand up for traditional marriage.

It's working.

County clerks across America just learned they better do what they're told or face financial ruin with zero help from "conservative" justices.

Staver says Liberty Counsel will "continue to work to overturn Obergefell" just like they eventually overturned Roe.⁹

Good luck with that when the Supreme Court won't even hear your cases.

Nine states introduced legislation or passed resolutions this year trying to protect traditional marriage.¹⁰

The Supreme Court doesn't care.

They've made their choice, and it's not the Constitution.

It's not religious liberty.

It's certainly not Christians like Kim Davis who sacrificed everything for their faith.

The real victims of Obergefell

Davis gave up her career, her reputation, and is now losing everything she owns because she wouldn't celebrate what the Bible calls sin.

She stood on principle when it cost her dearly.

The Supreme Court abandoned her when it mattered most.

Every Christian in America should be furious about this.

Your "conservative" justices just told you that religious liberty doesn't matter when it conflicts with the Left's agenda.

They'll let you get bankrupted for living out your faith.

And they won't lose a minute of sleep over it.

This isn't about gay marriage anymore.

It's about whether Christians have any protections left in this country.

Monday's decision makes it crystal clear: you don't.

The courts will side with those claiming hurt feelings over Americans exercising their constitutional right to religious freedom.

Kim Davis is paying $360,000 for refusing to bow to the woke mob.

The Supreme Court just told every other Christian in America: you're next.
