Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will not back down from his support of vaccine mandates and passports.
But no one expected him to go this far.
And the world was stunned when Justin Trudeau issued this insane order to shut down the Freedom Convoy.
In order to seize emergency powers and try to end the Freedom Convoy protest, Justin Trudeau declared martial law by invoking the 1988 Emergencies Act.
Not only that, but the Canadian government also declared the truckers and their supporters “domestic terrorists,” giving them the right to seize their bank accounts without even so much as a trial.
Even though it was written in 1988, this is the first time the Emergencies Act has ever been invoked.
Even though many provinces in Canada are rolling back their vaccine requirements and other COVID mandates, Justin Trudeau would not even meet with the truckers.
Instead, he initiated a radical plan to crush them and their supporters.
But it’s not going over very well for Trudeau.
The Canadian Civil Liberties Association blasted Trudeau for imposing martial law via the Emergencies Act.
“The federal government has not met the threshold necessary to invoke the Emergencies Act. This law creates a high and clear standard for good reason: the Act allows the government to bypass ordinary democratic processes. This standard has not been met,” the Canadian Civil Liberties Association wrote.
Since there is no evidence that the Freedom Convoy is a violent protest, the Prime Minister isn’t allowed to invoke the Emergencies Act against a lawful protest.
“The Emergencies Act can only be invoked when a situation ‘seriously threatens the ability of the Government of Canada to preserve the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Canada,’ & when the situation ‘cannot be effectively dealt with under any other law of Canada,’ the Canadian Civil Liberties Association added.
“Governments regularly deal with difficult situations, and do so using powers granted to them by democratically elected representatives. Emergency legislation should not be normalized. It threatens our democracy and our civil liberties,” the Canadian Civil Liberties Association concluded.
The way governments and private corporations, including social media companies and banks, joined together to isolate and cripple the Freedom Convoy is reason for concern to many.
Of course, during the BLM riots in the summer of 2020, governments and crowdfunding platforms never shut down their fundraising efforts or invoked the use of emergency powers against them, despite their widespread violence.
The way government and private corporations treated the Freedom Convoy clearly shows that only the Left has the right to protest and peacefully assemble.
