Fox News viewers were floored.
Some of the hosts were taking their anger out on the public.
And the hosts at Fox News made one shocking comment about the election that its viewers never expected to hear.
During the recent battle for Speaker of the House, the co-hosts of Fox & Friends ranted to their guests about the conservatives who refused to support Kevin McCarthy.
Brit Hume, a senior political analyst for the network, called the McCarthy holdouts “extremists” and blamed them for the GOP’s underperformance in the Midterm elections.
“One thing is that the public in this country is in no mood for extremists in either Party,” Hume said. “They don’t do well. They didn’t do well in this election. Arguably the presence of a number of people thought to be extremists on the Republican side of the tickets across the country cost them the big night they were hoping to be having. So, at this action here, 20 or 21 members are holding up the whole parade; I think a lot of people think that’s extreme.”
Co-host Ainsley Earhardt claimed to speak for GOP voters by saying they want to move on and were sick of conservatives holding up the process.
“You might say, ‘Well we don’t know who these people are,’” Earhardt exclaimed. “But if you live in one of their states, you do, because everybody is talking about it.”
Co-host Steve Doocy essentially blamed Fox News viewers for voting for the conservatives opposed to McCarthy.
“You voted for them!” Doocy declared.
Earhardt agreed and reiterated her claim that GOP voters wanted to move on, saying “many of them are upset because they will say, ‘we really want to move on. There are other important issues to deal with.’”
Outside of a few hosts like Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham, Fox News Channel is back to its pre-Trump stance where it was seen as the Jeb Bush network.
That image of Fox News didn’t change until Trump won the GOP nomination in 2016.
Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch declared after the Midterm elections that he wouldn’t support another Trump White House bid.
And despite Trump’s vocal support of McCarthy, Murdoch’s pronouncement likely colored the hosts at Fox News’ comments when they attacked the conservative long-time Trump allies who were holding out on Kevin McCarthy.
