Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been the most extreme – and most vocal – member of the radical Left during her two short years in Congress.
But she recently picked a fight with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.
And this Democrat Party official in New York is warning Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that her political career may soon be over.
Even though she’s only served in the U.S. House of Representative since 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has quickly risen to national fame to become the leader of the socialist wing of the Democrat Party.
During an interview with Vanity Fair this past fall, AOC admitted she didn’t plan on staying in the U.S. House of Representative forever, leading to speculation that she was planning on challenging Chuck Schumer for U.S. Senate in the 2022 Democrat primaries.
Not only that, but during a recent interview with The Intercept’s podcast, AOC told the host that it was time for Pelosi and Schumer to step down so Democrats could choose new leadership.
But New York State Democrat Party Chairman, Jay Jacobs, is warning AOC that running against Chuck Schumer in 2022 is a selfish undertaking that would ultimately lead to political suicide for the young Representative.
“I think it would be a primary driven by ambition more than by need,” Jacobs told The New York Post, before saying that Chuck Schumer would “absolutely” defeat AOC in a primary.
“Chuck Schumer has been a progressive force in the state for decades. She has a constituency that admires her and supports her, and they’re in her community, and I think it would be a loss for them if she were to do that,” Jacobs told The Post.
Of course, AOC isn’t all talk.
With her massive national following, Democrat Party officials can’t just ignore her and hope that she will go away over time.
Not only that, but she proved she was a political force to be reckoned with when she uprooted Democrat incumbent Joe Crowley in 2018, ending his 20-year long career in the U.S. House.
Should AOC decide to run against Chuck Schumer, there’s no doubt she would bring the same enthusiasm – and massive fundraising war chest – of the radical Left that carried her to victory in 2018 over 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley.
And that could be the real reason why Democrats are slowly turning on AOC.
