Hollywood has about put itself out of business embracing the left’s extreme cancel culture ethos.
Now some celebrities are standing up against the woke outrage mob.
And this eighties star just demolished the left’s cancel culture mob.
Molly Ringwald, is one of the most recognizable young celebrities from the eighties having starred in classics like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Pretty in Pink.
Now she’s standing up against cancel culture—even though she has first-hand experience with the seedy side of Hollywood.
Ringwald joins a growing number of celebrities starting to push back against the left-wing outrage mob’s constant push to “cancel” anyone who uttered an unseemly phrase.
“I don’t think a Harvey Weinstein situation could exist now,” Ringwald pointed out in an interview. “But, again, a lot of people have gotten swept up in ‘cancelation,’ and I worry about that.”
“It’s unsustainable, in a way,” she continued. “Some people have been unfairly canceled, and they don’t belong in the same category as somebody like Harvey Weinstein.”
The #MeToo movement took out numerous high-profile men who preyed on women and girls – and many who didn’t.
However, like most mob movements, the fever to rid Hollywood and other parts of society of power players who used their position to take advantage of women ended up also taking out men who had a bad date or miscommunication with a woman as though as if they were Weinstein-caliber monsters.
Comedian and actor Aziz Ansari was one of those wiped out by the #MeToo frenzy even though he was never actually accused of doing anything wrong.
In Ansari’s case, a woman merely accused him of being awkward on a date resulting in the celebrity’s career being put temporarily on hold as though as if he was guilty of a serious crime.
“What it ends up doing is make people roll their eyes,” Ringwald noted. “That’s my worry. I do want things to change, for real. Workplaces should be places where everyone can feel safe – not just in Hollywood, but everywhere. Particularly Americans. We can never do things incrementally; we’re so binary, so all or nothing. We’re basically a bunch of puritans.”
Ringwald has seen the seedier side of Hollywood as she once revealed in an interview with Life and Style magazine.
“At 13, a 50-year-old crew member told me that he would teach me to dance and proceeded to push his [intimate parts] up against me,” she said.
Ringwald added that another time she was forced to wear a dog collar on set even though it wasn’t written into the script.
Those experiences helped drive her decision to move to France.
Yet, Ringwald’s point stands that lumping in with men accused of forcible rape is wrong and in the long run hurts the cause to protect women.
Of course, there are radical left-wing feminists who have openly announced they’re willing to let innocent men have their lives destroyed as a result of the #MeToo movement.
Ironically, the #MeToo movement itself was taken out by President Joe Biden who likes to style himself as a feminist sympathizer.
Former Senate staffer Tara Reade accused Biden of rape back in 1993.
She even told people about the alleged incident at the time.
But Democrats couldn’t afford to even entertain wrongdoing on Biden’s part so Reade’s allegations were simply ignored by the corporate-controlled and #MeToo Movement.
That bit of hypocrisy effectively killed the entire movement.
It seems the left had zero interest in believing women, when the woman in question was saying something they didn’t want to hear.
Reade’s case was rejected by the “Time’s Up” Movement since it was already teaming up with Biden.
True bad behavior needs to be called out.
But the politicized approach taken by the outrage mob in Hollywood and Washington, D.C. is compromising the integrity of our entire society.
