Ben Shapiro, founder of the Daily Wire, has become one of the biggest names in conservative media.
That puts a big target on Shapiro’s back.
But former Fox and Friends host Gretchen Carlson just found out taking swipes at him wasn’t a good idea for her.
Carlson was the one who started the stream of sexual harassment complaints against the company.
Her efforts eventually led to the ouster of then Fox News President Roger Ailes in 2016.
Because of her #MeToo moment Carlson quickly became a hero to the radical Left.
And her true political affiliations and beliefs came to light, showing Fox viewers another example of just how left-wing the network had become.
Now Carlson is playing to her new leftist fan base by supporting the Left’s attempts to ban guns and deny Constitutional rights to law-abiding Americans.
And she recently attacked Daily Wire founder and conservative icon Ben Shapiro over his strong and principled opposition to the government imposing a ban on so-called “assault weapons.”
On his podcast, Shapiro blasted Democrat demands that the government ban and confiscate firearms in the wake of the tragedy in Lewiston, Maine.
Shapiro pointed to the current situation in Israel to bolster his arguments.
The sad fact is, Israel had instituted total gun bans for its citizens that left them defenseless when Hamas terrorists launched their sneak terrorist attack on October 7.
Shapiro told his listeners that he simply would not leave himself or his family defenseless against murderous terrorists or criminals and stated that he would never give up his AR-15 because the gun control laws already on the books are a total failure.
“So, no, I’m not going to be giving up my AR-15 because a mentally-ill person, who never should have had weapons, committed a heinous act of evil,” Shapiro declared.
Carlson then chimed in by falsely claiming that Americans couldn’t own an AR-15 before 2004 and that banning these firearms would save lives.
Ordinary people didn’t have AR-15s before 2004. They’re not some time-honored American tradition, they’re a recent mistake that we could fix and save thousands of lives in the process. https://t.co/IlJ4FuadBP

Carlson’s wild claims are just simply not true on every level.
The real facts are, Bill Clinton signed a so-called “assault weapons” ban into law in 1994, but Congress correctly let the ban expire in 2004.
So yes Gretchen, prior to 1994, Americans could own AR-15s.
And the horrific Columbine school shooting, which was really the event that began the wave of “mass shooting” tragedies after the media promoted both the identity and grievances of the killers and showed mentally disturbed individuals how they too could become famous, occurred in 1999, which was smack dab in the middle of the 10-year period where the gun ban was on the books.
Carlson wanted to virtue-signal for her new leftist fans and repeated a bunch of easily debunked lies that the gun grabbers routinely tell themselves.
Unfortunately, all too many media personalities like Gretchen Carlson are itching to repeat those deceptions.
