Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign is picking up steam fast.
Burgess Owens was a long-time defensive back for the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders.
He capped his decade-long NFL career with a 1980 Super Bowl win with the Raiders dominating the Philadelphia Eagles 27 to 10.
Forty years later, Owens won a much different campaign as he was elected to Congress representing his Utah district as a Republican.
Now Owens just became the 76th member of Congress to endorse Trump for a second term in office.
According to Owens, Trump’s first term in office was a big win for the black community thanks to tax cuts implemented, along with the benefits of free market economics.
In contrast, he describes Joe Biden as the “last segregationist in American politics.”
“Donald Trump delivered record-breaking growth to all communities. As a child born in the segregated south, I witnessed Donald Trump help the black community more than any president in my lifetime. Record growth for black business owners, then to answer this, the Democrats nominated the last segregationist in American politics, Joe Biden,” Owens explained in a statement.
He then argued that electing Trump again is the best path forward as the country struggles to recover from Biden’s disastrous term in office.
“Biden declared to the world if you don’t support him, ‘you ain’t black,’ well, once again, I don’t support him. I’m proud to support Donald Trump in 2024, and I pray he gets the opportunity to finish the record growth he started. We need his boldness to reverse the damage Joe Biden has done before it’s too late,” Owens declared.
Democrats had hoped that siccing leftist prosecutors on Donald Trump would knock him out of the 2024 presidential campaign.
But Owens’ endorsement is the latest proof that strategy is failing utterly.
Each new effort to wage lawfare on Trump is resulting in yet another bump in the GOP Primary polls for the former president.
Meanwhile, polls looking ahead to the General Election predict Trump and Biden neck and neck.
Both Republicans and the American people as a whole are sick of the political elites’ games.
Instead of playing into Democrats’ hands, voters seem to be weighing what each man accomplished in office.
And the prospect that the 2024 election will ultimately become a referendum on Joe Biden’s leadership abilities is keeping his handlers up at night.
