Fox News’ “straight” news hosts are supposed to be fair and balanced.
But there has been an interesting shift regarding Donald Trump.
And Fox News may have never had a more embarrassing mistake than the four words this anchor just uttered about Donald Trump.
Some Fox hosts have seemingly ditched the “Fair and Balanced” approach and adopted a tone much closer to that of their rivals at CNN and MSNBC.
After an obscure former White House aide named Cassidy Hutchinson painted her wild story of a deranged, drunk-on-power President Trump attempting to orchestrate a coup with nothing but hearsay testimony to the January 6 Committee, the Fake News Media couldn’t contain their excitement.
Hutchinson claimed then-White House Deputy Chief of Staff Tony Ornato had previously told her that President Donald Trump had assaulted his Secret Service detail and attempted to commandeer the Presidential limousine, The Beast, after they wouldn’t take him to the Capitol during the events of January 6, 2021.
Of course, outside of the fact that her claim that the President of the United States had tried to choke the head of his Secret Service detail, Bobby Engel, strains credulity, there is also the issue with the fact that her testimony is pure hearsay and would be thrown out in any court of law in America.
Former President Trump obviously denied that he ever assaulted his Secret Service agents or attempted to commandeer The Beast in a post on his new Truth Social social media platform.
And amongst the corporate-controlled media stooges who still chose to push forward the narrative that Hutchinson was some sort of ‘heroic truth teller’ completely beyond reproach was none other than Fox News’ Brett Baier.
For some reason, Baier chose to actively attack President Trump and prop up Hutchinson on his Special Report Fox News show, claiming that her testimony had to be airtight because it was given under oath while Trump’s denial was nonsense solely because it was on social media.
“We are now hearing from the former President on various posts where he questions her accuracy,” Baier told Fox News viewers. “He goes after her directly. He says he doesn’t know who she is and said he didn’t lunge at the Secret Service agent in The Beast. That didn’t happen, he says. He didn’t throw his lunch against the wall, that didn’t happen and that she’s lying.”
“Cassidy Hutchinson is under oath on Capitol Hill,” Baier added, before saying, “The President is on Truth Social making his statements.”
“The testimony was significant,” Baier added.
On the one hand, Baier is correct – the testimony “was” significant.
But it was only significant because he and the rest of the corporate-controlled media chose to ignore all of the obvious signs that it was nonsense in order to score some cheap shots on Donald Trump.
What’s more, just minutes after Baier made his comments against Trump, Engel, the Secret Service agent at the middle of Hutchinson’s claims, made it known that he was ready to testify that her allegations were completely untrue before the January 6 Committee.
“A source close to the Secret Service tells me both Bobby Engel, the lead agent, and the presidential limousine/SUV driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel,” NBC’s Peter Alexander reported.
Furthermore, CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz has also reported that Ornato denies that he ever told Hutchinson that President Trump attacked an agent on his detail or tried to commandeer The Beast.
UPDATE: A Secret Service official familiar with the matter told CNN that Tony Ornato denies telling Cassidy Hutchinson that the former president grabbed the steering wheel or an agent on his detail.

So much for Brett Baier’s theory that truth depends on whether or not the claims were made on social media.
After such an embarrassing flop, maybe Brett Baier will think twice before ditching the “Fair and Balanced” approach just to try to follow the rest of the corporate-controlled media’s narratives.
Regardless, there’s no doubt viewers won’t let him live this one down.
