After losing a large portion of their viewers leading up to the 2020 election, Fox News has been desperate to win them back.
In the last 2 months, Fox has hired a slew of new talent.
But this recent hire by Fox News is causing chaos at the network.
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott announced recently that the network has signed former Trump administration Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to serve as a contributor.
Scott said in a statement, “Mike Pompeo is one of America’s most recognized and respected voices on foreign policy and national security issues. I look forward to his contributions across our range of platforms to share his distinct perspective with our millions of viewers.”
In response to the announcement, Pompeo said that he intends to give viewers “a candid, no-nonsense” look at international relations and America First policies.
Pompeo also said that he believes his experience in politics and as America’s top diplomat brings insight to Fox News viewers that they can’t get anywhere else.
While it may be true that the former Secretary of State can bring insight that viewers may not get anywhere else, the news of Pompeo’s hiring is causing quite a bit of turmoil internally.
One Fox staffer told Mediaite, “This is so needless. He would have come on the channel anyway.”
And another complained, “He’s obviously just trying to get more exposure before his 2024 run.”
Yes, it is believed among many, and clearly among Fox News staffers, that Pompeo is doing nothing more than laying the groundwork for a run in 2024.
Many believe that if someone works at Fox News, they must hold the same political viewpoints as Tucker Carlson or Neil Cavuto, but that just isn’t true.
The Fox News Network, just like many other TV channels, has behind-the-scenes staff that has very liberal viewpoints.
And it’s clear from the information Mediaite gathered that those on the inside of Fox are not happy about this most recent hire.
