Thomas Massie Dropped a Bombshell That Has Trump World Asking Uncomfortable Questions

Thomas Massie just became the one Republican willing to tell Trump what nobody else will.

The Kentucky Congressman's latest warning isn't going to make him popular at Mar-a-Lago.

And Thomas Massie dropped a bombshell that has Trump World asking uncomfortable questions.

Only House Republican to oppose funding Minnesota fraud draws line in the sand

Thomas Massie warned Trump during a meeting with House Republicans that the President risks losing the House majority by attacking conservatives like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rand Paul instead of keeping campaign promises.

Massie was the only House Republican to vote against an $8 billion childcare assistance program last February that's now linked to massive fraud in Minnesota.

Between $800 million and $1 billion in federal taxpayer funds were allegedly funneled through fraudulent Somali-run businesses, with some potentially reaching al-Shabaab terrorists.

YouTuber Nick Shirley's investigative video exposed daycares receiving millions while misspelling "learning" on their signs and appearing to operate with no children present.

Massie explained states are motivated not to crack down because federal dollars stimulate local economies whether spent legitimately or not.

"The state, the governors and the state legislatures, are actually motivated not to have efficient programs, but to have the maximum money that they can get coming to their state," Massie said.

He argued the entire program is unconstitutional because it has no basis in Article I, Section 8.

Massie calls Venezuela intervention an act of war

Massie characterized Trump's military operation to arrest Nicolás Maduro as an "act of war" rather than a lawful arrest.

He warned that abandoning constitutional restraints invites Russia and China to justify aggression against their neighbors.

"We went and snatched the president of another country so that we can take over their resources," Massie said.

The indictment charged Maduro with possessing machine guns in violation of the 1934 National Firearms Act.

"[Maduro's] crime is noncompliance with whatever the United States wants," Massie explained.

The real reasons for targeting Venezuela include oil competition, gold production, and using currencies other than the dollar.

Massie warned of "neocon principles ascendant in the White House and in the Cabinet" after Trump brought in former Never Trumpers.

Get US Out of NATO becomes rallying cry

Massie introduced H.R. 6508, the Not A Trusted Organization Act, to withdraw the United States from NATO.

"We should not be subsidizing the socialist levels of government spending that they have in Europe by providing for their defense," Massie said.

He warned that interpreting Article Five as a "suicide pact" with Europe against Russia or China violates the Constitution.

"NATO is a Cold War relic," Massie added.

At least 23 Venezuelan security officers and 32 Cuban military members were killed during the raid on Maduro's compound.

Democratic Senator Mark Warner questioned whether any large country can now indict rulers of smaller neighbors and extract them by force.

"This would lead to total chaos, this theory of the case," Warner said.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated Trump's actions had "worrying implications for the region" and "constitute a dangerous precedent."

A classified Justice Department memo argued Trump has "inherent constitutional authority" to order military operations overseas without congressional approval.

The memo builds on a 1989 legal opinion by William Barr claiming presidents can deploy forces to arrest people in foreign countries even when it violates international law.

Massie joined Democrats and four other Republicans to support a resolution prohibiting Trump from using military force in Venezuela without congressional authorization.

Trump responded by announcing plans to fund a primary challenger against Massie in 2026.

"MAGA doesn't want him, doesn't know him, and doesn't respect him," Trump wrote.

Massie fired back: Trump "declared so much War on me today it should require an Act of Congress."

The Kentucky Congressman has built a reputation for principled opposition to unconstitutional spending and unauthorized military action regardless of party.

Trump's willingness to sideline constitutional conservatives like Massie while embracing former Never Trumpers risks fracturing the America First base before midterms.

Massie argues keeping campaign promises matters more than attacking fellow Republicans.

"I think if [President Trump] would spend less time attacking Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Rand Paul or even myself, he could use that momentum to retain the majority in the midterms," Massie said.

The Congressman's objections force uncomfortable questions about whether Trump is abandoning America First principles to pursue neoconservative interventionism.
