With the departure of long-time head coach Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots are in full-blown transition mode.

Now they might be looking at bringing back a former legend to help return them to their glory days.

And that’s how Tom Brady just got blitzed by a Patriots head coach’s offer that shocked everyone.

Huge opportunity for the New England Patriots amidst the major post-Belichick transition

Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and GOAT quarterback Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl wins in 20 seasons together.

But now the Patriots are in full-blown rebuilding mode after the Brady-Belichick-led dynasty came to an end.

Brady departed New England for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the 2019 season.

And he won yet another Super Bowl with the Buccaneers before retiring, supposedly for good.

And then, after last season, Belichick and the Patriots agreed to a mutual parting of ways.

That means for the first time since the 1999 season, a head coach other than Bill Belichick will be on the sidelines for the team.

The Patriots hired former player Jerod Mayo – a linebacker who played under Belichick and with Brady – to be their next head coach.

Mayo now has a major rebuilding project ahead after the Patriots won just four games last season.

New Patriots coach addresses rumors of a Tom Brady comeback

Brady recently appeared on the DeepCuts podcast with barber VicBlends, where he suggested that he was open to another comeback in the NFL.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said. “I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don’t know if they would let me. But I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Brady is currently attempting to purchase a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Patriots drafted North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

But the possibility of the seven-time Super Bowl champion returning to football generated major buzz in the Boston media.

Mayo was asked about the possibility of Brady rejoining the franchise that he led to so much success by local Boston sports talk radio station WEEI.

“I love Tom, and the door is always open if he wants to come in here and coach,” Mayo told WEEI.

“But as far as going on the field, I don’t know,” Mayo continued. “But if he comes here, once again, going back to the, ‘Hey, the best player will play,’ you’ve gotta come in here and compete, and he loves competition. I doubt he’s gonna be walking through these doors any time soon.”

But the new Patriots coach didn’t close the door on the possibility of Brady returning to the team.

Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million contract to become Fox Sports’ top NFL analyst in the broadcast booth this fall.

The 46-year-old defied age by playing quarterback at a high level until retirement after the 2022 season.

In the past, Brady talked about trying to play in the NFL until he was 50.

He will always be associated with the New England Patriots, but while the door might be opened a crack, it seems unlikely he’ll ever take the field for the team again.
