Conservatives across the country have been watching in shock as the Biden Regime has weaponized the justice system in order to go after his biggest opponent in the 2024 presidential election.
Altogether, leftist prosecutors have brought charges that carry a cumulative maximum sentence of 561 years behind bars.
Meanwhile, it appears that Joe Biden has used his proximity to power to shield himself and his son, Hunter, from serious criminal charges.
Now, Trey Gowdy dropped a bombshell scenario pointing out that private citizens, any red state Attorney General or prosecutor could lower the boom on Hunter Biden if they can find evidence of a crime.
Getting at Joe Biden will take longer.
By law, a sitting President cannot be forced to face criminal charges.
But Gowdy pointed out that a GOP prosecutor could get an indictment now and wait for Biden to leave office so he could be forced to face a trial.
“The current DOJ guidance is a sitting President cannot stand trial, although technically I suppose you could be indicted with the trial indefinitely postponed until you are no longer President,” Gowdy explained.
The former Congressman then urged Democrats to use discretion, warning that their approach of going after Donald Trump with Democrat judges, juries, and special counsels has opened up Pandora’s box—and they aren’t going to be one bit happy when Republicans begin playing by the same set of rules.
“This game of indicting your rivals can be played by both sides,” Gowdy added.
Joe Biden may be protected from criminal charges at the moment, but that won’t last.
If Biden loses his next election, numerous GOP Attorneys General are likely to open investigations into the Biden Crime Family’s dealings.
“I can rattle off the names of multiple Republican State Attorneys General . . . so yes, if you have jurisdiction, if you meet the elements of the offense, if the grand jury issues a true bill, then yes, state prosecutors can go forward,” Gowdy argued.
Democrats are clearly committed to a short-sighted approach.
They are completely obsessed with putting Donald Trump on trial ahead of the 2024 election in order to knock him out of the race entirely.
But Trey Gowdy just issued a warning that they are playing with fire and are more than likely to get burnt in a few short years.
