Democrats made H.R. 1/S.1, the so-called “For the People Act,” the centerpiece of the Democrats’ legislative agenda.
In the Senate, they came up short on their first attempt to pass the legislation, which would federalize elections and open the door to voter fraud. But former President Obama recently said it will be back.
But now Trey Gowdy just went on Fox News and destroyed the Democrats’ argument about Voter ID with one simple question.
If passed, H.R. 1/S.1 would take away the ability of individual states to enforce voter ID laws.
Worse yet, not only would it ban voter ID laws, but it would also impose a nationwide mailing of ballots to every registered voter, whether they requested one or not, as well as require states to allow ballot-harvesting, a process Democrats are known to exploit.
Of course, a recent Monmouth University poll showed that 80% of Americans support voter ID.
And during a recent episode of Fox News’ Special Report, host Brett Baier asked former Congressman Trey Gowdy if that was the reason why Democrats hit pause on the issue of voter ID.
“Yes, Brett. That was a long, long time ago, like maybe seven to 10 days ago, when not only were they opposing voter ID, they went to the Supreme Court to oppose voter ID. And so I always ask the rhetorical question, what is your issue with proving that you are who you are? The problem with that poll, Brett, is all 18% that are opposed to voter ID are on the Democrat side of the House and the Senate. That’s the problem with the polling. They are not going to support it,” Gowdy added.
The Democrats backing away on voter ID did more than show that voters overwhelmingly support requiring an ID to vote.
But it also showed that the years of Democrats attempting to smear laws designed to require voters to show an ID at the polls as racist did not work, as the American people saw them for the politically-motivated lie that they are.
