By now even the Fox News executives realize they royally screwed up by firing Tucker Carlson.
But the way it’s going, the massive blunder they made is going to get much worse for the once proud network.
As soon as Fox News shocked America and announced it was firing Tucker Carlson, the immediate question became “What in the heck are they doing?”
And that question was immediately followed with, “What’s next for Tucker?”
Not surprisingly, it didn’t take long for the job offers to come rolling in.
It looks like Carlson will have his pick of a myriad of opportunities.
For example, Newsmax is trying to establish itself as the top alternative to Fox News.
And after the 2020 election, Newsmax actually beat Fox News in the ratings during the 7pm time slot.
This clearly scared the network and Fox executives changed their primetime lineup.
Now Newsmax is reportedly going for broke and is prepared to offer Tucker Carlson not just the job of the network’s flagship anchor, but they are also willing to give Carlson the ability to program the rest of Newsmax’s lineup and bring on hosts who share his worldview.
As TMZ exclusively reported:
“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ . . . the news channel is doing everything it can to sweeten the deal for Tucker to come on board — including floating the idea of letting him program the whole channel, not just his own show.
That would be a pretty enticing deal point . . . in addition to having his own primetime show, Tucker would have a say over what shows lead into and out of his show, which can be key in achieving bigger TV ratings.
While our sources stress Newsmax hasn’t formally offered Tucker a job — he can’t have formal discussions due to his current Fox News contract — we’re told the network execs have made it clear to people around him, they would basically give him a big say in rebranding their channel.”
Because Carlson is still technically under contract to Fox, Newsmax did make it clear they have had no official communication with Carlson.
“We have not spoken with Tucker Carlson but Newsmax is always open to a conversation with incredible talent, including Tucker,” a statement from Newsmax read.
In a video posted to social media, Carlson hinted Fox News censored him over his opposition to Joe Biden’s war in Ukraine and for reporting on how the Biden administration weaponized the government after January 6 to target Trump supporters.
“When was the last time you heard a legitimate debate about any of those issues,” Carlson said. “It has been a long time. Debates like that are not permitted in American media.”
Carlson joining Newsmax is considered by most media observers as a huge threat to Fox News.
In fact, Newsmax has already seen the ratings for its 8 p.m. programming triple since Fox News fired Carlson.
Fox also saw its entire nightly lineup dip below two million viewers, and even get beaten by a Tucker Carlson video on Twitter.
More than one million people who used to watch Tucker Carlson and Fox News are now hunting around for a different news source.
If Newsmax is able to land Tucker Carlson, they will become that alternative and a huge threat to Fox News.
