The survey found that a whopping 69% of Americans believe transgender athletes should only compete on sports teams that match their biological sex at birth.

The poll also discovered that 66% of Americans think government documents like passports and driver’s licenses should list a person’s birth sex rather than their so-called "gender identity."
These numbers represent a massive rejection of the woke agenda that Democrats and their allies in the media have been ramming down Americans’ throats.
The findings come from Gallup’s May Values and Beliefs poll, which surveyed U.S. adults on their views about transgender policies.
What makes these results even more devastating for the Left is the trend over time.
Support for allowing transgender athletes to compete based on their claimed gender identity has plummeted since 2021.
Back then, 34% of Americans supported this radical policy.
Now that number has crashed to just 26%.
That’s an eight-point drop in support as Americans have witnessed the unfairness of biological males dominating women’s sports.
Even Democrats are having second thoughts
The poll results show massive partisan divides, but even Democrats are starting to question the transgender movement’s extreme demands.
About nine in 10 Republicans support policies based on biological sex rather than gender identity.

Only about four in 10 Democrats support the radical transgender policies their party has been pushing.
When it comes to transgender athletes, just 45% of Democrats think they should be able to compete on teams matching their claimed gender identity.

Only 23% of independents support allowing transgender athletes to compete based on gender identity, while the poll shows similar opposition to changing government documents.
Americans see through the moral confusion
The poll also revealed that 54% of Americans believe changing one’s gender is morally wrong.
That’s up from previous years as more Americans have witnessed the harmful effects of transgender ideology on children and families.
Only 40% of Americans now say changing genders is morally acceptable, down six points from 2021.
The survey asked Americans about what causes someone to be transgender for the first time.
The results demolished another key talking point from the Left.
Half of Americans believe being transgender is caused by environmental factors like upbringing, while only 30% think it’s biological.
This stands in stark contrast to how Americans view being gay or lesbian, where 45% say it’s something people are born with.
Republicans overwhelmingly believe transgender identity results from external influences rather than biology, with 76% holding this view.
Even among independents, more people attribute transgender identity to environmental factors than biological ones.
Trump’s policies align with American values
These poll numbers show that President Donald Trump’s executive orders on transgender issues reflect mainstream American opinion.
Since returning to office, Trump has signed orders eliminating federal recognition of so-called gender identity, targeting transgender military service, and aiming to keep biological males out of women’s sports.
The Left and their media allies have attacked these policies as extreme.
But the Gallup poll proves Trump is standing with the vast majority of Americans who reject radical transgender ideology.
