Virginia Democrats are facing their biggest scandal of the election cycle.
Their attorney general candidate got caught saying the unspeakable about a Republican politician and his innocent children.
And Virginia Democrats gave one shocking response after leaked text messages revealed their candidate discussed shooting a Republican and his children.
Virginia Democrats circle the wagons around Jay Jones
Jay Jones thought his private text messages would never see the light of day.
The Democrat candidate for Virginia Attorney General was dead wrong.
National Review got hold of 2022 text messages where Jones wrote about a hypothetical scenario involving then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert, Adolf Hitler, and Pol Pot.
"Three people, two bullets. Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head," Jones texted to Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner.
"Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time."
When Coyner tried to get Jones to stop with a simple "Jay. Please stop," Jones just laughed it off.
But the messages got even worse from there.
Jones went on to describe Gilbert and his wife Jennifer as "evil" and said they were "breeding little fascists" – referring to Gilbert’s young children.

Any normal political party would immediately demand their candidate step aside after fantasizing about shooting a political opponent and calling his children "little fascists."
But some Virginia Democrats just aren’t normal.
Instead of condemning Jones and demanding he withdraw from the race, party leaders are rallying around him like he’s the victim of a Republican smear campaign.
Democrats call disturbing fantasies "past mistakes"
The Virginia Beach Democrat Committee issued a statement that will make your stomach turn.
"We are lined up, ten toes down, ready to organize, mobilize and deliver voters for Jay and our entire Democratic ticket," the committee wrote.
They actually used the phrase "ten toes down" to describe their support for a man who fantasized about shooting a political opponent.
The committee then had the audacity to invoke scripture to defend Jones.
"Recent press may have spotlighted past mistakes. We say, let those without sin cast the first stone," their statement continued.
Leave it to Democrats to compare violent fantasies about shooting politicians and calling their children fascists to minor personal failings that everyone has.
There’s a massive difference between human imperfection and fantasizing about political assassination while describing innocent children as "little fascists."
But Virginia Democrats are treating Jones’s sick fantasies as if he forgot to return a library book.
Even gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger refused to call for Jones to step aside.
She "condemned violent language" but stopped short of demanding he withdraw from the race after speaking "frankly" with Jones about her "disgust" with his comments.
This tells you everything you need to know about where Democrats draw the line.
Spanberger and her fellow Democrats are more concerned with winning elections than protecting politicians and their families from violent rhetoric.
Republicans demand the accountability Democrats refuse to provide
Virginia’s Republican leaders responded exactly as you’d expect normal human beings to react.
Attorney General Jason Miyares wrote an open letter calling Jones’s conduct "disqualifying."
"If you believe it is okay to wish death upon a political opponent, vote for my opponent," Miyares wrote. "If you believe it is worth the death of children to advance your political goals, vote for my opponent."
Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears put it even more bluntly during her October 4th remarks.
"Jay Jones fantasizes about murdered little children lying lifeless in their mother’s arms. And yet he runs for attorney general, our chief law enforcement officer," Earle-Sears said.
Governor Glenn Youngkin called the rhetoric "violent, disgusting" and "beyond disqualifying."
But Democrats continue to stand by their candidate.
As of this weekend, not a single prominent Democrat has called for Jones to withdraw from the race.
They’re treating a man who fantasized about shooting political opponents and called their children fascists as if he’s a victim of Republican attacks.
President Trump joined the calls for Jones to drop out on Sunday.
"Democrat Jay Jones should drop out of the race immediately," Trump posted on Truth Social, while offering his endorsement to incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares.
Even Vice President JD Vance weighed in, calling Jones "very deranged" and demanding he drop out.
The deeper problem with today’s Democrat Party
This scandal exposes something rotten in the core of today’s Democrat Party.
These people have become so consumed with political power that they’ll defend the indefensible.
Jones didn’t just make an offhand comment or lose his temper during a heated discussion.
He sat down, thought about shooting a political opponent, and decided that would be preferable to shooting history’s worst dictators.
Then he described that politician’s young children as "little fascists" being bred by "evil" parents.
That’s not a mistake – that’s a window into someone’s soul.
Virginia Democrats looked at that window and decided they liked what they saw.
They’re "ten toes down" for a man who fantasizes about political violence against families.
This is the same party that lectures Republicans about "violent rhetoric" every time Donald Trump criticizes their policies.
But when one of their own candidates literally fantasizes about shooting political opponents and demonizes their children, they circle the wagons and demand voters show forgiveness.
The hypocrisy is stunning, but it shouldn’t surprise anyone who’s been paying attention.
Democrats have spent years excusing political violence when it serves their purposes.
They cheered when leftist mobs attacked conservative speakers on college campuses.
They stayed silent when radical activists showed up at Supreme Court justices’ homes to intimidate them.
Now they’re defending a candidate who fantasizes about political assassination and calls Republican children fascists.
What this means for Virginia voters
Virginia voters need to understand what they’re really choosing in November.
Jay Jones isn’t just another Democrat politician with different policy views.
He’s someone who thinks shooting political opponents is acceptable and describes their children as fascists.
And Virginia Democrats think that’s perfectly fine as long as he votes the right way.
They’ve shown they care more about holding power than protecting basic civility in politics.
Attorney General Jason Miyares promises to protect every Virginian "regardless of whether they are a Democrat or Republican."
Meanwhile, his opponent fantasizes about shooting Republicans and calls their kids fascists.
The choice couldn’t be clearer.
Virginia Democrats have made their position crystal clear – they’ll support anyone, no matter how disturbing their violent fantasies, as long as they have a "D" next to their name.
They’re "ten toes down" for political violence against families.
Virginia voters will decide in November whether that’s the kind of leadership they want representing them.
