Fox News has been scrambling to stop the bleeding since their network has dropped to last place in the ratings.
Part of that plan was trying out Trey Gowdy as a guest host for the 7PM primetime show.
And what Trey Gowdy just did for Fox News will leave you stunned.
Fox News’ ratings plummeted after the 2020 election because many Trump supporters felt betrayed by the network’s cozying up to the Left.
And Former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy was one of many guest hosts auditioned by Fox for its new primetime show designed to win back viewers.
After garnering the best ratings among the many hosts, Gowdy was invited back for a second stint hosting Fox News Primetime slot.
And his second run just hit number one in primetime last Tuesday night.
As Mediaite reports:
“Fox News Primetime, the opinion show that launched in January as part of a schedule revamp at Fox News, won its 7 p.m. timeslot in both total viewers and in the valuable demographic of viewers age 25-54 Tuesday, as interim host Trey Gowdy continues his second stint as host.
Prime Time notched 2.21 million total viewers Tuesday, and 371,000 in the demo, according to data from Nielsen. MSNBC’s The ReidOut was second in total viewers, with 1.61 million, and third in the demo, with 203,000. CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront was third in total viewers, with 1.26 million, and second in the demo, with 308,000.”
It’s possible Gowdy could earn himself a spot as permanent host of the 7PM show if he can continue to bring big ratings to the table.
Fox’s about-face since the election is already winning back some of their disillusioned audience back to the network.
And they’re quickly realizing that their viewers won’t tolerate them acting like MSNBC or CNN.
Only time will tell if their maneuvers helps the network win back the trust conservative Americans.
