Virginia’s Republican gubernatorial candidate faced another racist attack from the Left.
This time it happened where no one expected.
And Winsome Sears hit with racist slur that exposed one ugly truth about Democrats.
Democrat donor unleashed racist tirade at football game
Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears attended a James Madison University football game Saturday expecting to watch her alma mater take on Old Dominion.
Instead, she became the target of racist abuse from a Democrat donor who couldn’t control himself.
Scott Pogorelc, a Lockheed Martin subsidiary employee and prolific donor to Virginia Democrats, was caught on video shouting "go back to Haiti" at Sears during JMU’s 63-27 blowout victory.¹
The Centreville, Virginia resident also screamed "traitor" at Virginia’s first Black woman elected to statewide office.²
Here’s the kicker — Sears isn’t even Haitian.
She was born in Jamaica and is a naturalized American citizen.³
But Pogorelc apparently couldn’t be bothered to get his racist talking points straight before launching his attack.
The video quickly went viral on social media, exposing not just Pogorelc’s ignorance but something far more troubling about the Democrat Party’s base.

Pogorelc works as an engineer for Zeta Associates, a defense contractor subsidiary of Lockheed Martin that handles Department of War and Air Force contracts.⁴
His donation history reads like a who’s who of Virginia Democrats — multiple contributions to Abigail Spanberger during her 2020 Congressional campaign, donations to Senator Tim Kaine, and contributions to Vice President Kamala Harris.⁵
This wasn’t some random heckler.
This was an established Democrat Party donor with high-level security clearance screaming racist slurs at a Black woman for having an "R" next to her name.
Pattern of racist attacks against Sears intensifies
The football game incident represents just the latest in a disturbing pattern of racist attacks targeting Sears since she announced her gubernatorial campaign.
In August, a protester at an Arlington County school board meeting held a sign reading "Hey Winsome, if trans can’t share your bathroom, then blacks can’t share my water fountain."⁶
That protester turned out to be a longtime Democrat activist who had been canvassing for Democrats for years.⁷
Earlier this month, the Powhatan County Democrats posted a cartoon depicting Sears as a racist caricature straight out of the Jim Crow era before quickly deleting it after backlash.⁸
Three separate racist incidents in three months — all targeting the same Black conservative woman.
And every single attacker has been connected to the Democrat Party.
Sears responded to Saturday’s incident with characteristic defiance rather than victimhood.
"I’ve been called names no one should ever hear, and I’ve watched people hold racist signs meant to shame me," Sears wrote on X. "And because I have an R next to my name, few care."⁹
"But I am no victim. Words won’t break me, and they won’t stop this campaign. We are going to win," she added.¹⁰
The Republican Party of Virginia confirmed the video’s authenticity, with the staffer who filmed it explaining he heard the slur while on the field near Sears, turned around, and began recording.¹¹
Swift consequences for racist Democrat donor
Unlike previous incidents where Democrat activists faced minimal accountability, Pogorelc’s viral meltdown cost him his job.
Lockheed Martin moved quickly once the video spread across social media.
"Lockheed Martin holds all employees to the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct," a company spokesperson initially stated. "Any behavior that violates our Code of Ethics will be thoroughly investigated and employees found in violation will be held accountable."¹²
Hours later, the defense giant confirmed what many expected.
"Zeta Associates investigated the matter and the individual is no longer employed," the company announced Monday.¹³
James Madison University Athletics also took action, suspending Pogorelc from attending future athletic events.¹⁴
The university’s athletic department released a statement condemning his behavior and noting it violated their fan code of conduct that attendees agree to when purchasing tickets.¹⁵
Pogorelc’s son plays as a senior offensive lineman for JMU, having transferred to the program this year.¹⁶
The father’s racist outburst likely created significant embarrassment for a college athlete just trying to finish his final season.
Democrats reveal their true nature when cameras roll
The pattern emerging from these racist attacks tells a story Democrats desperately want to suppress.
When Black conservatives like Sears refuse to stay on the Democrat plantation, the mask comes off and the racism flows freely.
Pogorelc isn’t an outlier — he represents the ugly truth about modern Democrat voters who claim to champion diversity while attacking any minority who dares think independently.
His donation history proves he wasn’t some isolated extremist but an active participant in Democrat politics who financially supported the party’s candidates.
The August school board incident involved a protester who volunteered as a Democrat poll greeter and wore a shirt from We of Action, a leftist group that organized "No Kings" protests in Arlington.¹⁷
These aren’t random acts from fringe characters.
They’re coordinated attacks from established Democrat activists who feel comfortable expressing their racism because they know the media will give them cover.
Sears trails Democrat opponent Abigail Spanberger by approximately 5-7 points in most recent polling, though the race has tightened considerably since early summer when Spanberger held double-digit leads.¹⁸
The Trafalgar Group, which proved most accurate in Virginia’s 2021 gubernatorial election, shows the race within the margin of error at 47.7% to 45.1%.¹⁹
With less than two weeks until Election Day on November 4, these racist attacks may actually be helping Sears consolidate Republican support and attracting independent voters disgusted by Democrat tactics.
BET founder Robert Johnson donated $500,000 to Sears’ campaign after the August racist sign incident, calling out Democrats for their treatment of Black conservatives.²⁰
Virginia Democrats’ response to these incidents has been telling.
While Spanberger condemned the racist sign as "repulsive," party officials simultaneously blamed Sears for "creating a climate" that supposedly provoked the racism directed at her.²¹
That’s right — Democrats actually argued a Black woman is responsible for white leftists attacking her with racist slurs.
The party that claims to oppose racism just blamed the victim for her attackers’ behavior because she won’t embrace their radical agenda.
Sears closed a recent press call by addressing the Democrat Party’s pattern of racism.
"You keep seeing that over and over again. They say that they love people who look like me, but they don’t," Sears stated. "I mean, heavens, they’ve called me a white supremacist. Why would they do that? I’m the one who carried the bill 20 years ago to protect us from the KKK."²²
The Democrat Party was the party of slavery, the KKK, and Jim Crow.
When Black Americans like Sears reject their control, Democrats prove they haven’t changed as much as they claim.
