Donald Trump wasted no time announcing his third consecutive Presidential run just last week.
And he’s already started hurling attacks at the man most everyone expects to be his top rival for the Republican Presidential nomination, Ron DeSantis.
But now you could cut the tension with a knife after Ron DeSantis had the perfect response to Donald Trump.
As the dust continues to settle from the 2022 Midterms, one thing remains abundantly clear – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has emerged as the clear winner of the election cycle.
Obviously, the Governor’s dominant, nearly 20-point re-election victory in the former battleground and toss-up state served as one of the lone bright spots for Republicans nationally, after both the GOP establishment and Trump-backed candidates fell flat.
At the same time, it’s also created a situation where the battle for the Republican Presidential nomination seems to be headed to a two-horse race between Governor DeSantis and former President Donald Trump.
And as a result, Trump has suddenly gone from praising DeSantis to attacking him as “Governor DeSanctimonious,” amongst other smears.
During a recent press conference, a reporter asked the Florida Governor to respond to the former President’s attacks, and he responded in a rather Presidential manner.
“One of the things I’ve learned in this job is when you’re doing, when you’re leading, when you’re getting things done, you take incoming fire, that’s just the nature of it,” DeSantis explained.
“I roll out of bed in the morning, I’ve got corporate media outlets that have a spasm — just the fact that I’m getting up in the morning and it’s constantly attacking,” he continued. “And this is just what’s happened. I don’t think any Governor got attacked, more particularly, by corporate media than me over my four year term.”
Governor DeSantis continued by pointing out that the results of his re-election prove that, in the end, what truly matters is not attacks, but actual, tangible results and leadership.
“And really what matters is are you leading?” DeSantis said. “Are you getting in front of issues? Are you delivering results for people? Are you standing up for folks? And if you do that, then none of that stuff matters. And that’s what we’ve done. We focused on results and leadership.”
But Ron DeSantis didn’t get to where he is today by backing down from attacks, and he proceeded to shoot back at Trump with a subtle, veiled jab that certainly got his point across.
“I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard from last Tuesday night,” DeSantis concluded, referring to the fact that the former President went just 2-for-16 with his endorsements in key Governor, Senate, and Secretary of State races nationwide.

With comments like this from DeSantis, it’s becoming more and more clear that he will inevitably toss his hat into the ring and take on Trump for the Republican nomination.
Quite frankly, with the momentum on his side, if he continues to stay this cool under the pressure of the attacks coming his way, Ron DeSantis may just be an even more formidable Republican Presidential candidate than he’s given credit for.
And that’s a fact that should worry anyone who tries to challenge him.
