CNN is full of Democrat mouthpieces but people across the political spectrum were outraged by Chris Cuomo’s silence regarding his brother Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal.
Leftist media insiders smelled blood, attacking CNN for their failure to avoid the giant conflict of interest as well as Chris Cuomo’s silence.
But you won’t believe what Chris Cuomo finally said about conflict of interest and the shocking sexual assault scandal that brought down his brother.
Last Monday, Chris Cuomo finally admitted he advised his brother Andrew Cuomo as he maneuvered through multiple sexual assault allegations, despite publicly being a vocal #MeToo supporter for a number of years.
Cuomo said he ignored the scandal during his primetime CNN show because it was against CNN’s conflict of interest rules.
But unsurprisingly, neither CNN nor Cuomo ever gave a reasonable explanation as to why Cuomo was allowed to host his show (and ignore his brother’s scandal) on the nights that his brother was the biggest story in politics.
You can read Chris Cuomo’s statement below:
“I never covered my brother’s troubles because I obviously have a conflict, and there are rules at CNN about that. I said last year that his appearances on this show would be short-lived, and they were. The last was over a year ago, long before any kind of scandal. I also said back then that a day would come when he would have to be held to account and I can’t do that. I said point blank, I can’t be objective when it comes to my family, so I never reported on the scandal and when it happened, I tried to be there for my brother.”
He adds:
“I never misled anyone about the information I was delivering or not delivering on this program. I never attacked nor encouraged anyone to attack any woman who came forward. I never made calls to the press about my brother’s situation. I never influenced or attempted to control CNN’s coverage of my family. And as you know, back in May when I was told to no longer communicate with my brother’s aides in any group meetings, I acknowledged it was a mistake, I apologized to my colleagues, I stopped, and I meant it. It was a unique situation being a brother to a politician in a scandal and being part of the media. I tried to do the right thing, and I just want you all to know that.”
This response from Chris Cuomo ignores the real questions he and CNN both should have asked regarding the disgraced New York governor as well as ones they should have answered themselves about their coverage of him.
That’s no surprise for the stooges at CNN.
But it’s especially bad when it covers up serious lapses in judgment from one of the top Democrats in the country who’d widely been regarded as a future presidential contender.
Andrew Cuomo’s lack of judgment at best placed him at the center of numerous sexual assault allegations, to say nothing about whether he caused thousands of undue deaths among New York seniors by sending COVID positive patients back into nursing homes prematurely and then lying about the number of deaths in official reports.
Sadly, the shameful behavior didn’t stop at Andrew Cuomo, and Chris Cuomo and CNN should be held accountable for their moral failures in these scandals too.
