Katharine McPhee stood poolside at a Beverly Hills home Wednesday night, David Foster on piano, Spencer Pratt in the front row.
She grabbed the mic and started singing.
What came out of her mouth is the last thing Karen Bass needed to hear right now.
Katharine McPhee and David Foster Open Their Home for Spencer Pratt
American Idol star Katharine McPhee sang a Tina Turner classic at a Spencer Pratt fundraiser hosted by her husband, legendary producer David Foster – with one small change to the lyrics.
"Spencer you're simply the best / Better than all the rest / Better than Karen Bass / And Nithya Raman," she sang.
This is not the first time McPhee has broken ranks with Hollywood's Democrat machine.
She previously endorsed Rick Caruso for mayor and publicly blamed a crime surge on "woke" voters, writing that she couldn't wear "rings, watches or anything out in LA anymore."
Now she's all in on the man Karen Bass called a grief-exploiter.
Spencer Pratt Won the LA Mayor Debate and Karen Bass Skipped the Next One
Pratt is not a conventional candidate.
He's a second-generation Angeleno who watched his house burn down on January 7, 2025 – and then watched Bass claim she deserved a second term.
He lost his home, his parents' home, and – by his own account – had neighbors burn alive across the street from his childhood house.
When Bass accused him of "exploiting grief" for political gain, Pratt fired back on Fox News: "I'm not sure if Karen Bass forgot she let my house burn down and my parents house burn down and I had actual neighbors burn alive across the street from my childhood home."
Meghan McCain put it plainly: "How the hell is Spencer Pratt 'exploiting grief'? He, his wife, children and parents lost their homes and everything in it in a fire because of Karen Bass and her failed policies."
At the May 6 debate, Pratt called Bass "an incredible liar" to her face – and viewers voted him the winner.
Bass bailed on a May 13 debate entirely, claiming she was in Sacramento "fighting for housing and homelessness funding."
The League of Women Voters called it a failure of democratic accountability.

Spencer Pratt LA Mayor Polls Close the Gap as Hollywood Splits
The most recent Emerson poll has Bass at 30 percent and Pratt at 22 – a gap that has tightened by 12 points since March.
That is a loaded gun pointed straight at her.
His campaign ads have racked up tens of millions of views and made national news.
Paris Hilton and Kristin Cavallari have both endorsed him.
Now Katharine McPhee and David Foster opened their home to raise him money.
A UCLA survey found that LA residents' quality-of-life satisfaction just hit a historic low – education, transportation, and cost of living all falling to their worst recorded levels simultaneously.
Bass's response? She told Angelenos she "deserved" a second term.
Karen Bass Cut the Fire Budget Then Blamed Everyone Else for the Palisades Fire
The Palisades Fire killed 12 people, destroyed 7,000 structures, and caused an estimated $18 to $20 billion in damages.
Before the fires, Bass cut $17 million from the LAFD budget.
Her own fire chief warned her in writing that the cuts were affecting the department's ability to maintain core operations.
Some hydrants ran dry during the blaze.
Bass was in Ghana.
After the fires, city officials moved to soften and delete findings from the LAFD's internal after-action report – an effort to downplay the failures of city leadership in preparing for and fighting the January 7 fire.
Bass distanced herself from it and ordered a second investigation.
Spencer Pratt was in the ashes of his neighborhood the whole time, filming everything, naming names, and filing lawsuits.
Now one of the most respected music producers in Hollywood history just hosted a fundraiser for the man taking her on – and his wife sang a victory song on camera.
One Pratt supporter put it on Instagram: "You know the tide is turning in California when @DavidFoster and @katharinefoster open their home and write a song for @SpencerPratt. La La Land is ready for a plot twist."
Karen Bass still leads the polls.
But when Hollywood stops writing checks to the Democrat incumbent and starts writing songs for the challenger, the ground is shifting under her feet.
And she knows it.
