The Democrats spent two years telling you Donald Trump was a fascist who would destroy democracy.
Now the most prominent socialist in America just invited him into his house for a friendly chat.
And Trump showed up – smiling.
Zohran Mamdani Has Met With Trump Three Times and the 2026 Midterms Are Eight Weeks Away
This is the third time these two men have met face to face.
The first was in the Oval Office in November 2025, right after Mamdani won the mayor's race.
The second was back at the White House in February.
Now Trump is heading to Gracie Mansion – the official home of New York City's mayor – to sit down with a man he called a "100% Communist Lunatic" on Truth Social.
Zohran Mamdani is a 34-year-old democratic socialist born in Uganda, backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, who beat Andrew Cuomo – a candidate Trump himself endorsed – in a stunning upset.
This is the man Republicans have been running against all summer.
After Mamdani's DSA-backed candidates swept New York's congressional primaries in June, Trump took to Truth Social to declare that Mamdani had personally delivered three committed Communists to Congress, sarcastically thanking him for the applause it earned from the media.
Republicans Built Their Midterm Strategy Around Mamdani Being the Face of Democratic Socialism
Here's what Trump has exactly right about Mamdani: the ideology is radical.
Mamdani froze rents on stabilized apartments the moment he took office.
His administration launched a campaign called Fix the City, aimed at seizing properties from the city's worst landlords and handing them to tenants and nonprofits once the fines pile up high enough.
Cato Institute economist Ryan Bourne spelled out the consequences: rent controls "produce rental housing shortages and inefficiency." They deepen the crisis they claim to solve.
Mamdani's own campaign platform proposed shifting the property tax burden onto what it called "richer and whiter neighborhoods."
His DSA allies swept Democratic primaries across the country this summer – the socialist wing of the party is not fringe anymore.
Karl Rove said it out loud on Fox News: Trump benefits from Mamdani's rise because Republicans can run against democratic socialism in every district come November.
So why is Trump handing his opponent a photo op at Gracie Mansion two months before the midterms?

Trump loves a deal. That's not a character flaw – it's usually a strength.
After their first Oval Office meeting, Trump called Mamdani a "very rational person."
This is the same man he had branded a communist lunatic weeks earlier.
Trump's political instincts are usually sharper than this.
Sitting down with Mamdani three times – and now traveling to his house – legitimizes the most prominent democratic socialist in American politics right before voters head to the polls.
Republicans spent the entire summer building Mamdani into the face of an extreme, radical Democratic Party.
Every handshake at Gracie Mansion undoes a piece of that work, and hands Mamdani something he cannot buy: credibility with voters who distrust radical politicians, and proof that even the Republican president thinks he's worth talking to.
Trump understood the stakes perfectly back in June, when he was warning the country about a communist takeover.
He needs to remember it now – because the midterms are eight weeks away and Republicans need every seat they can hold.
The strongest card in the GOP deck right now is the face of Zohran Mamdani next to the word "socialist."
Trump just handed him a different card to play.
