Zelensky Trashed Trump’s Russia Diesel Deal the Same Day His Team Begged Miami for Help

Joe Biden's White House quietly considered draining America's strategic diesel reserve just to keep trucks moving.

Donald Trump just picked up the phone to Vladimir Putin to fix it.

Zelensky ripped Trump's Russia deal within hours, the same day his own officials sat in Miami asking for more American money.

Why Russia Banned Diesel Exports and Sent Prices Soaring

Russia banned diesel exports in July after Ukrainian drone strikes tore through its refineries and triggered fuel shortages across the country.

That ban ripped roughly 800,000 barrels a day off the global market at the worst possible moment.

The United States was already fighting a war against Iran that had oil markets on edge, and Americans were paying for it at every pump and loading dock.

Moscow extended the ban last month, tightening the squeeze on diesel buyers from Minneapolis to Memphis.

None of this is new to anyone who lived through Joe Biden's diesel crisis, when Congress warned that record prices were squeezing families from the pump to the grocery aisle.

Democrats blamed refineries, blamed weather, and blamed everyone except the administration that strangled American energy production.

Trump inherited that mess and went looking for supply wherever he could find it, including from the country sitting on one of the biggest diesel surpluses in the world.

Trump's Russia Diesel Deal Drops Before Midterms As Kyiv Begs Miami for Help

Trump announced that Putin agreed to immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to global markets, with another 500,000 tons promised in November.

That is roughly six million barrels of fuel, enough to cover about a day and a half of American diesel demand according to the Energy Information Administration, with Trump saying millions more tons would follow depending on the condition of Russia's refineries.

Putin told Trump he was ready to supply oil and petroleum products to American and global markets and predicted it would help the entire global economy, according to the Kremlin's readout of the call.

Trump said oil prices were already dropping like a rock and credited total control of the Strait of Hormuz alongside the new Russian diesel agreement for pushing prices down for Americans and the world.

Volodymyr Zelensky did not see a win for American families – he saw a betrayal, and he said so the same day his team sat down with Trump envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner in Miami.

Zelensky called the move "a weak decision of strong partners" and said it amounted to "additional money for this war, for the suffering, and of course against us."

"This only fuels Putin and gives him the possibility to fight more," Zelensky said, even as his delegation asked Washington for exactly the kind of support he never stops demanding.

Zelensky complained that while his team was talking to the American team in Florida, Trump was on the phone with "the leader of this war, the leader of this aggression."

That is the same Volodymyr Zelensky who shows up in Washington every few months asking for more weapons, more money, and more patience from American taxpayers footing his war.

How Trump's Hormuz Playbook Already Proved It Can Lower Gas Prices

This is not the first time Trump bet on energy leverage while critics rolled their eyes, and it is not the first time he proved them wrong – The Daily Signal reported that conservatives trusted his energy dominance strategy to eventually bring prices down when the Iran war sent oil spiking earlier this year, and prices came down, the same bet he is now making on Russian diesel.

Families filling up at the pump don't need a geopolitics degree to know which side is actually fighting for them, and while Zelensky keeps booking flights to Florida asking for more, Trump just proved he will deal directly with the source of the problem to bring prices down for the people who elected him.
