A California bill will make driving even more miserable everywhere

The surveillance state could bring this harassment everywhere in America before long.

The Left wants to take away the freedom that comes with private vehicle ownership.

California has especially attacked the private vehicle industry.

And a California bill will make driving even more miserable everywhere.

More Government control

Authoritarian leftists have used the so-called environmental movement as a mechanism that will lead to complete control of our everyday lives.

Global elitists who fly on private jets are planning a future society where all of us lowly peons are forced to take public transportation, live in “15 minute cities,” and eat bugs.

The number one thing they are attacking is the ability of the average Joe to own their own vehicle and freely travel.

The idea that you can just hop in your car or truck and drive yourself wherever you want makes power hungry authoritarians insane.

California has been the home base of regulatory policies designed to make vehicle ownership more difficult.

The state has already passed legislation that will ban gas powered cars, forcing drivers into more costly electric vehicles, which will inevitably result in less people being able to own a vehicle in the state.

While the EV mandate was claimed to be done in the name of environmentalism, California’s new scheme is supposedly being done for safety reasons.

But it’s obvious the motivation behind these regulations is just more state control.

Now California is taking aim at cars in a way that will put the government right in your front passenger seat.

A new law passed by the California legislature will require all vehicles in California to be equipped with software that tracks your current speed and issues audible warnings to slow down when drivers exceed posted speed limits.

California is basing the law after a similar one that went into effect in the European Union.

Not only will the mandate increase the cost of vehicle ownership, as well as annoy drivers, but it is ripe for further government abuse.

We have already seen states implement speed camera schemes in order to extort fines from motorists. How long until this technology that is already in place is used to simply track every driver’s speed and automatically mail tickets to everyone who exceeds the speed limit at any time?

It won’t just be California

The new regulations will affect far more than California.

Already 17 states, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts automatically adhere to California’s vehicle standards.

And the additional cost that car manufacturers will incur to comply with California and other states will have an impact on drivers across the country.

The bill has already passed both houses of the legislature and is waiting on Governor Gavin Newsom’s signature.

California Republicans sent a letter to Newsom’s office urging him to veto the bill, and instead increase police patrols if the real issue is about highway safety.

But this is exactly the sort of big government policy Gavin Newsom loves, so a veto is unlikely.

So thanks to California Democrats, things are likely to get worse for motorists, not just in California but throughout the US.
