Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna wants Adam Jones gone from the National Security Council immediately.
She says the same official has been quietly blocking two of Trump's biggest transparency promises.
Her demand revives a year-old claim that nobody with real authority ever acted on but now Congresswoman Luna just publicly renewed the demand that he be fired.
Luna's Demand Targets Two Broken Promises
Rep. Luna's post named Adam Jones, the NSC's Senior Director for Intelligence, accusing him of shutting down the office supporting election integrity investigations.
"Jim Clappers guy needs to go," Luna wrote in the post demanding his removal.
She also accused him of stalling declassification work, including the push to release 9/11-related files.
That push includes Acting DNI Bill Pulte, whom Trump has empowered to unseal intelligence community records this year.
Luna chairs the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, and also sits on the House Committees on Oversight and Government Reform and Foreign Affairs, giving her direct standing on exactly this kind of fight.
Who Adam Jones Actually Is
Adam Jones has held the National Security Council's top intelligence post for more than a year.
Independent biographies of Jones show a career that started in 2006 as a speechwriter for the director and principal deputy director of national intelligence, and later included stints at the CIA, the National Counterterrorism Center, and as chief of staff to an acting principal deputy director of national intelligence.
He was also a 2019 fellow at Harvard's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs while still working inside the same federal intelligence bureaucracy Trump would later vow to dismantle.
Jones replaced Brian Walsh as Senior Director for Intelligence at the NSC after Walsh was removed in April 2025, in a shakeup that followed a meeting between Trump and neocon activist Laura Loomer.
Walsh previously worked for Marco Rubio, now Secretary of State, back when Rubio served on the Senate Intelligence Committee, giving Walsh a conservative pedigree of his own.
That purge came months after the NSC had already removed more than 150 staffers the day after the inauguration to align the council with Trump's agenda.
The vetting behind Walsh's removal was run out of the Presidential Personnel Office now headed by Dan Scavino but which at the time Sergio Gor headed up.

Asked about the April firings, President Trump told reporters he lets go of people "that may have loyalties to somebody else."
A Year-Old Claim Nobody Acted On, For a Reason
Loomer first claimed in July 2025 that Jones had been hand-picked by former Obama Director of National Intelligence James Clapper to run the intelligence transition team into Trump's first term.
Loomer has a long track record of unverified and exaggerated claims, and nothing in the public record independently confirms the Clapper connection, which is likely why her warning went nowhere until Luna's post revived the same allegation.
Why the Vetting Keeps Missing the Real Problem
Walsh's ouster followed both Gor's personnel review and Trump's own meeting with Loomer, according to public reporting at the time.
Whatever vetting caught Walsh, nothing in the public record confirms Jones himself was ever screened before he took the same sensitive post and held it for a year.
The question now is whether the White House finally acts on Luna's demand, or whether Jones outlasts this one too.
Election integrity investigations and 9/11 declassification aren't side issues to this White House – they're two of the most-promised transparency fights of Trump's second term.
If Jones stays in that seat, both fights stall in the same office for another year.
Voters didn't elect Trump to leave that decision in the hands of a holdover nobody can confirm was ever vetted.
