Chuck Schumer placated the pro-Hamas Democrat base by meddling in Israeli politics
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) recently stunned the political world.
The New York Democrat, who has long claimed to be a strong supporter of Israel, took to the Senate floor and called for the ouster of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“As a lifelong supporter of Israel, it has become clear to me: The Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after October 7. The world has changed, radically, since then, and the Israeli people are being stifled right now by a governing vision that is stuck in the past,” Schumer stated.
He decided to cross this line and condemn the Israeli government on behalf of the Palestinians because a Quinnipiac poll released that day had former President Donald Trump up by four points over President Joe Biden in Michigan.
Biden barely won Michigan by just 154,000 votes in the 2020 Election.
But this year, more than 100,000 Democrats voted uncommitted in the February 28 Democrat Primary.
Reportedly, much of those 100,000 came from many of the Muslims living in the Detroit area.
They were sending Biden and the Democrats a clear message that they need to side with Hamas in this conflict.
Schumer denounced the fact that Netanyahu wouldn’t end his operation to destroy Hamas.
Chuck Schumer clearly wants Netanyahu and all Israelis to just accept the fact that the terrorist group slaughtered 1,200 innocent people on October 7.
“Five months into this conflict, it is clear that Israelis need to take stock of the situation and ask: must we change course?” Schumer added. “At this critical juncture, I believe a new election is the only way to allow for a healthy and open decision-making process about the future of Israel, at a time when so many Israelis have lost their confidence in the vision and direction of their government.”
Benjamin Netanyahu angrily responds to Schumer’s attack
Schumer claimed Netanyahu would never accept Hamas’ call for a ceasefire, so he told the Israeli Prime Minister he needed to go.
“Nobody expects Prime Minister Netanyahu to do the things that must be done to break the cycle of violence, preserve Israel’s credibility on the world stage, and work towards a two-state solution,” Schumer concluded.
But Netanyahu and his backers insist that Schumer ignores what they claim would be the result of such a cease fire, handing Hamas total victory and allowing them to massacre Jews at will and remain in power in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu’s Likud Party responded in an angry statement demanding that Schumer stop meddling in their domestic politics.
“Israel is not a banana republic, but an independent and proud democracy that elected Prime Minister Netanyahu,” the statement said. “Contrary to Schumer’s words, the Israeli public supports a total victory over Hamas” and “opposes the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza.”
But many Americans believe they can’t have it both ways, claiming they’re “independent” and wanting the money to keep flowing into Israel.
Meanwhile, U.S. taxpayer money flowing to the Middle East, on both sides, is meddling in many people’s eyes.
Schumer’s hypocrisy on full display
In 2016, Chuck Schumer was very much against foreign meddling in elections.
At the time he called for an investigation into the false claims that Russia colluded with Trump during the campaign and condemned the Russian government for interfering in America’s domestic politics.
“Reports of the CIA’s conclusion that Russia actively sought to help elect Donald Trump are simultaneously stunning and not surprising, given Russia’s disdain for democracy and admiration for autocracy,” Schumer ranted.
Israel is a strong American ally.
But Schumer decided to damage relations with them over panic on the Left that pro-Hamas Democrats will stay home in November and hand Michigan’s Electoral College votes to Donald Trump.
