Buttigieg stammers and stutters over the border during contentious interview
Joe Biden’s Transportation Secretary got caught in a real traffic jam.
Democrats simply have no good answers about the growing crisis at the southern border.
And Buttigieg was the latest administration surrogate to get caught flat footed during an interview over the issue.
CNBC Squawk Box host Joe Kernen took Buttigieg to task for Biden’s late to the party response to the border crisis by paying lip service to the out-of-control border crisis.
And Biden is only doing so because polls show former President Donald Trump leading, in large part due to his massive advantage on the immigration issue.
“That didn’t come until it was clear it was going to become a major campaign issue and only then did the Biden administration get interested in it,” Kernen stated.
Buttigieg tried weakly to claim Republicans were at fault for the wide open southern border because they killed a bill that would have allowed Biden to admit 5,000 illegal aliens per day into America.
But Kerner wasn’t having any of it and said the American people could see the border was secure when Trump was President.
“Every time we hear those talking points that suddenly it was Republicans who ruined the border — that’s why people get so frustrated,” Kernen said. “We know what President Biden said about inviting people in. We know that he got rid of the things that were keeping the border closed that President Trump had put in. We know that he got rid of all of those, so when you say it’s not his fault.”
Buttigieg tries to sell the lie that Biden tried to secure the border
Buttigieg attempted to fight back by arguing the only policy Biden rolled back was family separation.
“That’s literally not true! It’s literally not true,” Buttigieg shrieked.
“He got rid of the policy to tear children out of the arms of their parents, that’s true, but it is not true some of the other things that have been suggested,” Buttigieg added.
Of course, that’s not at all true.
Biden tried to end all deportations, halted construction of the border wall, and rescinded the Remain in Mexico Protocols.
And these were just some of the more than 90 executive orders he issued about the border.
“This is part of the problem and why there’s a disconnect,” Kernen shot back.
He pointed out that the reason polls showed 61 percent of Americans blame Biden and the Democrats for the border crisis, while only 38 percent blame Trump and the Republicans is because they can see with their own eyes what’s going on.
Kerner then challenged Buttigieg further, saying there weren’t more than 7 million illegal aliens entering the country during Trump’s term.
And voters clearly recognize that as well.
And that’s why polls stand where they are, and why Joe Biden is facing his own self-made border crisis.

And Buttigieg was the latest administration surrogate to get caught flat footed during an interview over the issue.
When he was confronted with the fact that President Joe Biden opened up the southern border to an unprecedented invasion and then ignored the devastating consequences until it was no longer politically convenient.
