President Trump nominated Pete Hegseth to serve as his Secretary of Defense to help usher in a new era of real change.
Hegseth immediately took even more drastic action than anyone predicted.
And Pete Hegseth slapped down this ultimatum that has all Hell breaking loose.
Deadly Mexican drug cartels put on notice
The crisis at the U.S. Southern border has two major elements – the illegal immigration issue and the deadly fentanyl epidemic.
President Trump sealed the border on his first day in office simply by reversing all of Joe Biden’s open border executive orders.
And the effect was noticeable, as border crossings plummeted 95 percent.
But to take on the fentanyl crisis – which kills nearly 100,000 Americans every year – President Trump decided to strike at the suppliers of the deadly drug.
President Trump imposed a 25% tariff on all goods from Mexico.
In response, Mexico deployed 10,000 troops to the border and expanded law enforcement operations against the cartels.
President Trump also signed an executive order designating the Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth showed that the order had real teeth as he told Laura Ingraham that military operations against the cartels were on the table.
“Anything is on the table. The commander-in-chief, ultimately, with my consultation and with the chairman and others, will make those determinations. But nothing’s off the table. Our sovereignty will be defended,” Hegseth explained.
“We’re taking nothing off the table, nothing. We will do whatever it takes to secure the American homeland, to maintain our sovereignty and protect the American people,” Hegseth continued.
The results speak for themselves
President Trump’s methods achieved immediate results.
The New York Times reported that cartel leaders are now on the run and putting their families in hiding out of fear the American military may come for them.
Others have shut down fentanyl labs completely.
“One cartel leader says he’s trying to figure out how to protect his family in case the American military strikes inside Mexico. Another says he’s already gone into hiding, rarely leaving his home. Two young men who produce fentanyl for the cartel say they have shut down all their drug labs,” the Times reported.
One top Sinaloa Cartel member told the Times the Mexican government increasing its law enforcement operations put him on edge.
“You can’t be calm, you can’t even sleep, because you don’t know when they’ll catch you,” the cartel member stated.
“The most important thing now is to survive,” the cartel member added as the Times reporter observed his hands shaking.
The Times said Trump’s tariffs would crush the Mexican economy, but President Claudia Sheinbaum took action to try and appease Trump.
“Facing economic chaos, the Mexican government went on the offensive. President Claudia Sheinbaum dispatched 10,000 national guard troops to the border and hundreds more soldiers to Sinaloa state, a major hub of fentanyl trafficking where a cartel war has caused turmoil for months,” the Times reported.
The Times even reported that President Trump’s actions led to real economic pain for the cartels.
“In interviews, cartel operatives agreed. Some said they were selling off property and firing unessential personnel to make up for lost income from the dent in the fentanyl trade. Others said they were investing money in advanced equipment to detect American government drones, which the United States flew into Mexico during the Biden and Obama administrations as well,” the Times also reported.
Joe Biden’s previous hands-off approach to the cartels failed miserably.
But now, President Trump is bringing new thinking to a crisis that plagues America.
