Trump Shut Down the Pool Rumor and Confirmed the Real Plan Anyway

The New York Times tried to make Trump look unhinged over a swimming pool.

Trump torched that story in one sentence and kept talking.

What he said right after proves the media picked the wrong fight.

Trump Killed the Fake Pool Story and Owned the Real Plan

On October 24, Trump posted on Truth Social that a report claiming he would tear out the Brady Press Briefing Room and rebuild Franklin Roosevelt's old swimming pool was "a Fake News report."

He called rebuilding the pool "such a stupid thing" and wrote that "the old swimming pool will never be brought back."

In that same post, he added that he "may move the Fake News to a less obnoxious location."

He killed the pool rumor and left the relocation idea sitting in plain sight.

One day later, on October 25, Trump said it again without the sarcasm.

"I am not building a swimming pool in the White House Briefing Room, and never had any intention of doing so," he wrote, "I am thinking about moving the Press, and putting them in a different location, but I will use that location for very badly needed space."

Read both posts together and Trump's position never changed.

The pool story was fake, so he killed it.

The relocation plan was real, and he never hid it, not even in the post where he torched the pool story.

The New York Times led with the pool because mocking Trump plays better than reporting on him, and he refused to take the bait.

The report that triggered all of this also claimed Trump had been eyeing the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next door as the new home for correspondents.

That is a real building with real office space, not a punchline about a pool.

Nixon Already Gutted FDR's Pool to Build This Same Room

The briefing room reporters now treat like sacred ground was never built for reporters in the first place.

The pool went in back in 1933, paid for by a New York Daily News fundraiser to help Franklin Roosevelt manage the effects of polio.

Richard Nixon ripped that pool out in 1970 and poured a press room over it because television cameras needed somewhere to point.

Trump is not breaking tradition here.

He is doing exactly what Nixon did, remodeling the building for how Americans actually get their news in 2026.

Leavitt Already Gave New Media the Seats Legacy Reporters Lost

This fight did not start with a swimming pool.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has already rebuilt the briefing room seating chart once this year, carving out spots for podcasters and independent outlets the legacy networks used to shut out completely.

The old front row reporters hated every minute of it.

Now Trump is talking about relocating the entire operation to a building he controls from top to bottom.

This administration has already shown it will remodel the White House grounds without waiting for permission from the press.

Trump personally covered the cost of installing two 88-foot flagpoles on the North and South Lawns, so nobody could claim taxpayers footed that bill either.

Democrats and liberal commentators already howled when Trump demolished the East Wing for his new ballroom, and this is the exact same tantrum on repeat.

They are not worried about floor plans.

They are worried about losing the physical privilege that let a handful of networks act like they owned a wing of the People's House.

CNN and MSNBC Built a Monopoly Trump Is Now Dismantling

CNN and MSNBC did not get front row seats in that briefing room because the Constitution required it.

They got those seats because for decades nobody else was allowed to compete for them.

Moving the press out of the Brady room does not silence a single reporter.

It just ends the fiction that a handful of networks deserve permanent real estate inside the West Wing.

The same outlets that ran cover for Joe Biden's decline for four years are now panicking that they might have to walk an extra hundred feet to ask a question.

They are losing the illusion that they matter more than the independent journalists Trump has already let through the door.

That is why Trump could kill one fake detail on October 24 and still hand the media the real answer on October 25.
