Two influencers got the shock of their lives when an SUV crashed into their table mid-review

Social media influencers spend their lives documenting everything for content.

Most people think it’s a waste of time.

But two influencers were doing one thing at a Houston restaurant that may have saved their lives.

An ordinary meal turned into a nightmare in seconds

Nina Unrated and Patrick Blackwood were having what seemed like a perfectly normal lunch at Cuvees Culinary Creations in Houston, Texas.

The duo was filming a food review for their YouTube channel, Unrated Ex Files, when the unthinkable happened.

They were mid-bite, probably talking about the flavors or giving their honest take on the sliders, when an SUV came barreling through the glass wall at 35-40 mph.

"We were laughing, having a great time, and right as we tapped our sliders together in a ‘boom!’ cheers moment, out of nowhere, this SUV came barreling through the glass wall," the pair explained in a statement on their YouTube channel.¹

The crash happened so fast there was no time to react.

Glass shattered everywhere, chaos erupted, and the SUV hit right next to Patrick on the outside of the booth.

"We were inches from disaster," they said.

The power of documenting everything

Here’s the thing that probably saved their lives – they were filming everything.

When you’re constantly documenting your experiences, you develop a heightened awareness of your surroundings.

You’re always thinking about angles, lighting, and positioning.

That situational awareness likely helped them react in those split seconds when the SUV came crashing through.

But more importantly, their habit of filming provided crucial evidence of exactly what happened.

The footage shows the terrifying moment of impact and the immediate aftermath.

"No warning at all – glass shattered everywhere, chaos erupted," they described the scene.²

Both influencers ended up in the hospital but survived what could have been a fatal accident.

"I’m glad to be alive," one of them said in their 27-minute video documenting the entire experience.

Nina was more colorful in her reaction: "What a wild f***ing day."

A second chance at perspective

Look, most people roll their eyes at influencer culture.

The constant filming, the need to document every meal, every moment – it can seem narcissistic and shallow.

But in this case, that very habit of documentation likely played a role in their survival.

And you know what? Their reaction to this near-death experience shows they get it.

"This terrifying experience has made us realize just how precious life is," they wrote. "Tomorrow is not promised – do what you want to do today, live happy today, let go of everything holding you back, and forgive everybody."³

That’s actually pretty profound wisdom coming from people who make their living reviewing restaurant food.

They continued: "You don’t have time for that nonsense. We truly feel like we’ve been given a second chance, and we’re committed to making the most of it."

The bigger picture nobody’s talking about

Here’s what’s really wild about this story – the SUV driver apparently wasn’t impaired, according to TMZ reports.⁴

So what the hell happened?

How does a sober person drive an SUV through a restaurant wall at 35-40 mph during lunch hour?

Was it a medical emergency? Mechanical failure? Just plain reckless driving?

The authorities haven’t said what prompted the crash, which is pretty concerning when you think about it.

People are out there trying to enjoy a simple meal, and suddenly a vehicle comes flying through the wall.

Nina and Patrick put it perfectly: "All we were doing was enjoying a simple meal."

That’s America in 2025 – you can’t even eat lunch without worrying about someone’s SUV coming through the window.

What this really means

Strip away all the influencer culture stuff, and this is a story about how quickly life can change.

These two were sitting in a booth, probably arguing about whether the fries were crispy enough, when their entire world exploded in glass and twisted metal.

The fact that they survived and immediately turned it into content? That’s just who they are.

But their message afterward – about forgiveness, about not wasting time on nonsense, about making every day count – that hits different when it comes from people who just stared death in the face.

"Stay safe out there because life is so unexpected," they warned their followers.

Sometimes it takes getting hit by an SUV while reviewing sliders to remember what actually matters.

And sometimes the very thing people mock you for – in this case, constantly filming everything – ends up being the thing that helps you survive to tell the story.
