It’s exceedingly rare to go through most any weekday without seeing one of the deranged co-hosts of The View utterly humiliate themselves on national television.
Today is no exception.
And that’s because Whoopi Goldberg made a total fool out of herself with this easily debunked propaganda claim against Elon Musk.
In Democrats’ crosshairs
Outside of President Donald Trump, no other human on Earth today is more despised by Democrats and their media allies than Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
Musk’s efforts to help elect Trump, coupled with the historic, long overdue work he’s doing leading the Department of Government Efficiency on its mission to root out waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal bureaucracy, have sent the Left into a total tailspin.
They’re particularly perturbed by the fact that Musk and DOGE fully exposed the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as a taxpayer-funded slush fund Democrats used to advance their woke agenda around the globe with hundreds of billions of your tax dollars while our own nation crumbles around us, prompting Trump to shut down the executive agency.
As such, their media allies have taken it upon themselves to ratchet up their typically delusional hysteria over anyone who dares oppose any aspect of their woke agenda.
Case in point, the blowhard co-hosts of The View recently took aim at Musk and DOGE for daring to shine a spotlight on the corruption within the federal government.
And to the surprise of no one, it was co-host Whoopi Goldberg who made the biggest fool out of herself in the process.
In her infinite wisdom, Goldberg suggested that the real “waste” within the federal government that needed to be cut were contracts awarded to Musk’s companies, like Tesla and SpaceX.
“Let me say some place that could really use a lot of cutting,” Goldberg ranted. “Elon has very many government contracts. I think, because I don’t remember, maybe you all have heard it, I don’t remember looking for an armored car. I don’t care what it looks like, I don’t remember asking for it, I don’t know why I’m paying for it.”
Pulling lies out of thin air
Goldberg’s reference to an “armored car” was her regurgitation of a thoroughly debunked Democrat talking point in which they claimed that Trump secretly awarded Musk’s company a $400 million contract for “armored Tesla Cybertrucks” – which are already rather bulletproof.
Of course, in reality, there was no $400 million contract for Tesla, and the only recent government contract the electric vehicle manufacturer obtained was solicited and awarded by former President Joe Biden’s administration months prior to Trump’s inauguration last month.
Nevertheless, Goldberg continued by suggesting that other government contracts awarded to Musk’s SpaceX were somehow also a “waste” due to the existence of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
“I want to know, when did I say ‘Hey, we need another agency next to NASA,’” Goldberg fumed. “So when did we start paying for his SpaceX? You know that he’s gonna be cutting NASA. That’s the competition. So what is the real deal here? If we want to cut some money, let’s cut some of these.”
Once again, though, Goldberg’s claim simply proved her total and complete ignorance.
You see, SpaceX doesn’t compete with NASA, they work with NASA, and other federal agencies, to provide services the government, and other commercial spaceflight companies, are simply incapable of doing themselves – and for far less taxpayer money.
For example, back in 2014, NASA awarded contracts to both SpaceX and military industrial complex darling Boeing to build and operate space capsules that could transport NASA astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS) and into low-Earth orbit.
SpaceX’s winning bid came in at $2.6 billion, while Boeing’s winning bid was significantly higher at $4.2 billion – even though they were being tasked with providing the exact same service.
Yet, over a decade later, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon space capsule has successfully completed 15 crewed missions for NASA, while Boeing’s Starliner has only managed one crewed mission in which their Starliner space capsule failed and left astronauts stranded in space on the ISS for months, requiring Musk and SpaceX to step in and save the day.
The list goes on and on…
And it’s not just SpaceX’s work with NASA that proves Musk’s companies are undeniably one of the most effective and efficient government contractors in the world today.
In 2022, the Biden FCC rejected a proposal from Musk’s Starlink – a satellite internet subsidiary of SpaceX – in which the company would have provided broadband internet access to rural areas of the country that are currently unable to access the world wide web for $866 million, claiming that “Starlink did not adequately demonstrate its ability to deliver the promised service speeds and coverage required.”
Instead, the Biden FCC poured over $20 billion – over $19 BILLION more than Starlink’s bid – into other internet providers, who in the years since have produced next to nothing, while Starlink is on its way to making traditional internet providers completely obsolete.
Furthermore, as even CNN and others admit, although Musk’s Tesla received similar subsidies to every other “green energy” company under the Obama administration, they were the only company to pay back the loans with interest years ahead of the deadline, while many others – does Solyndra ring a bell? – flushed billions of taxpayer dollars down the drain and ultimately went bankrupt.
Put simply, Whoopi Goldberg, and every other Democrat talking head, are simply running around pushing quite possibly the most nonsensical arguments against Musk and DOGE imaginable.
And it’s all because they know they’ve greatly benefited from decades of government corruption, and are, quite frankly, afraid to stand on their own two feet and compete in the marketplace of ideas, like Elon Musk and every other hard working American entrepreneur.
