Democrats already watched New Hampshire defy their national party during the last presidential primary fight.
Now a CNN reporter says an entire Democrat-run state could walk out again.
Even Ken Martin's own network is now admitting nobody in Washington fears him anymore.
New Hampshire Already Defied Democrats Once Before
The Democratic National Committee recently voted to rewrite its 2028 primary calendar, jumping South Carolina to the front of the line.
That move looks like a clear assist for Kamala Harris, who currently leads early 2028 polling.
When South Carolina got the first slot in the 2024 cycle, New Hampshire ignored the DNC and held its primary anyway.
Joe Biden left his name off that ballot and still carried the state as a write-in candidate.
The DNC threatened to strip New Hampshire's delegates that year before restoring them in April 2024.
CNN reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere says the same rebellion is brewing again, telling viewers states no longer feel bound by DNC threats.
Dovere said Sunday that a state could simply choose "to not follow the DNC here and hold its primary when they want to."
CNN host Manu Raju pointed straight at New Hampshire as the state most likely to walk.
Even the Money Says the Party Is Broke
Martin isn't just losing his grip on the calendar.
The DNC is reportedly $2 million in debt while the RNC is sitting on $128.5 million in cash.
Martin's committee spent $7.3 million buying up the remnants of Kamala Harris's failed 2024 campaign list, the single largest expense of his tenure.
The DNC has also shelled out more than $800,000 to non-voting territories like the Virgin Islands while sitting in debt.
The committee opened a $20 million line of credit last year, drawing $15 million and pledging its Washington headquarters as collateral.
The Republican National Committee did not let the moment pass quietly.
RNC press secretary Natalie Baldassar said "the DNC is broke, leaderless, and imploding before America's eyes."
She is not wrong.
A Chairman Already Cracking Under the Pressure
None of this is happening with a steady hand at the wheel.
The New York Times reported that Martin threw his phone at a junior aide's desk in early July during a fit of frustration, triggering a formal human resources complaint.
The Times reporters put it bluntly – "Mr. Martin's fraying nerves are showing."
Martin has reportedly gone dark on public interviews for months, following criticism over the party's bungled rollout of its own 2024 election autopsy.
A chairman who cannot control his temper is now watching state parties decide they no longer have to answer to him at all.
Democrats Built a Party Nobody Has to Answer To
Democrats spent a decade lecturing the country about strong institutions, and their own institution cannot get one state to follow its calendar.
This is what happens when a party stops answering to voters and starts answering to donors and consultants while its chairman grows more isolated by the day.
Breitbart reported that Martin has grown increasingly isolated within his own party, worried about losing his job entirely as the midterms approach.
Add a $2 million hole and a documented HR complaint to a state ready to walk out on the calendar, and Republicans do not need to lift a finger this cycle.
They just need to let CNN keep doing their work for them.
