Bernie Sanders and AOC just hijacked a Michigan Senate seat for the socialists.
Now the Democratic Socialists of America are celebrating their biggest swing-state primary win in history.
Their official platform names the exact branches of the federal government they want gone.
Abdul El-Sayed Wins the Michigan Senate Race Democrats Feared
Abdul El-Sayed just won the Michigan Democrat Senate primary – barely, by about 15,000 votes – over establishment favorite Rep. Haley Stevens.
The "he's not really DSA" defense collapsed within hours.
Bernie Sanders' machine, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's ad money, the entire Squad apparatus, and DSA ground troops all poured into Michigan to elect this man.
El-Sayed campaigned alongside Hasan Piker – the far-left streamer who publicly stated that America deserved the September 11 attacks and who endorsed terrorist violence against Israel by Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
That is who Michigan Democrats chose to send to Washington, D.C.
Mike Rogers, the Republican nominee, immediately called El-Sayed the most radical candidate he had ever seen nominated by a major political party.
He's not wrong.
Fox News polling conducted after the primary found Rogers leading El-Sayed by four points among registered voters – 51 to 47 percent – making Michigan one of the few Senate battlegrounds where Republicans currently hold the advantage.
El-Sayed starts the general election with 54 percent of Michigan voters viewing him unfavorably.
The Democrat establishment saw this coming and tried to stop it anyway.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer endorsed Stevens at the eleventh hour, a last-ditch attempt to block the socialist surge.
It didn't work.
The DSA Platform Abolish the Senate, Abolish the Court, Rewrite the Constitution
Here is what the Democratic Socialists of America's official 2026 platform – titled "Workers Deserve More" – actually calls for.
Abolish the U.S. Senate.
Replace the President and the Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary "chosen by and subordinate to Congress."
Scrap the current Constitution entirely and build what the group itself calls a socialist republic from scratch.
Abolish ICE, open the borders, gut police departments, empty the prisons, defund the Pentagon, shut down overseas military bases, cancel all student debt, and impose Medicare for All.
DSA's own co-chair confirmed on camera that these positions are now mandatory for any candidate seeking the group's endorsement.
Platform co-author Michaela Brangan couldn't even explain what would replace the presidency, floating on a launch webinar that the new office could be called "the head honcho or whatever."
That's the intellectual rigor behind this agenda.
Sen. Deb Fischer warned that the plan strikes at the foundation of the constitutional system itself.
That's not an exaggeration.
Recent CNN polling found close to one in three Democrat primary voters now call themselves democratic socialists, making them the single most energized bloc left in the party.
Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez bring the name recognition, DSA field organizers bring the manpower, and candidates like El-Sayed get to keep their hands clean.
The label stays loud in safe blue districts and gets quietly dropped the moment the map turns purple.
McGovern's 1972 Disaster Ended With Nixon Winning 49 States
Democrats are trying to convince themselves this is a sign of strength.
It is not.
In 1972, George McGovern rewrote the Democrat Party's nominating rules to hand power to a new generation of activists, sidelining the party's old labor base – and then watched Richard Nixon carry 49 states that November.
James Carville, the veteran Democrat strategist, has already trashed his own party's socialist strategy in blunt terms on his podcast, dismissing it as staggeringly foolish.
DSA-aligned candidates have already knocked off incumbent Democrats in House primaries in New York and Colorado.
El-Sayed's win marks the first time a candidate backed by Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez and the DSA movement has taken a statewide Democrat primary in a competitive purple state this cycle.
That is the pattern.
It started in safe blue districts where a DSA win is an automatic general election win.
Now it has reached Michigan – a state Trump already won in 2024.
The establishment spent $65 million trying to stop El-Sayed.
They failed.
The question is not whether the Democrat Party has been taken over by socialists.
It has.
The only question left is whether Michigan sends that takeover to the U.S. Senate – or sends Mike Rogers instead.
Right now, Fox News polling says Michigan is leaning toward the second option.
